Winter Officially Here

Prince George, B.C.- Winter officially arrived moments ago, making this the day with the fewest hours of sunlight during the whole year.
This 3:12 .a.m. arrival, is the earliest arrival of winter since 1896.
Of course, Northern B.C. has been dealing with winter conditions since October, so today’s official arrival would seem to be merely a formality.
According to Environment Canada, the season will produce normal temperatures and precipitation throughout B.C.
You are invited to celebrate the Winter Solstice at the Farmers Market "Solstice Soiree". The Farmers Market ( located behind the Keg Restaurant) will open it’s doors at 4:30 this afternoon, then at 6:00 celebrations will start along George Street and the Lantern walk will arrive at City Hall for the event staged to start at 6:30 on the City Hall gorunds. There will be vendors, kids activities , snow sculptures and more.
