Prince George, B.C. – It’s the final weekend run-up to Christmas and it promises to be busy in a number of ways.
The Prince George RCMP are hoping everyone has a happy holiday season, and they pass along a few tips for public safety. First off, as you rush around finishing your Christmas shopping take a few steps to make sure you and your gifts get home safely. Be aware of your surroundings. Have a look around that shopping centre parking lot for suspicious-looking characters. Be sure to place anything you’ve bought in the trunk of your vehicle, or at least out of sight. Keep your purse or wallet close to you and out of the reach of thieves. Keep all banks cards and electrical gadgets secured.
And for travelers, plan your trip and take your time. As repeated so often, drive according to road and weather conditions. Make sure your vehicle is equipped with suitable tires and carry an emergency kit, warm blanket(s) and something for sustenance. Drive safely and defensively, within the speed limit, and don’t drink and drive.
One other note. Fure officials remind you to be cautious with fireplaces, electrical lights and wiring, and any heating apparatus you may use to keep pipes from freezing. Make sure all materials you use are fully functional and in good working order.
Be safe.
