Prince George, B.C.- So, will you be staying up to ring in the New Year?
According to a new survey by Ipsos-Open Thinking Exchange, 91% of adults asked said yes they would.
The survey also indicates only one in about 5 people polled plan to have champagne or a similar drink, to welcome 2013.
Most say they will be a social situation, with 39% saying they will gather with close friends and family to ring in the new year and for 33% that means they will be staying at home.
Those most likely to be ready to party? 45% were under the age of 35.

For many of us as well, it will be another night of work. I wish above all, a safe Happy New Year to everyone.
The only “ringing” I’m experiencing is the Gov’t and utilities wringing more out my wallet as of tomorrow.
Happy new year… now pay up.
If you are going out or partying at home, please stay safe. I want you all back to bicker, comment and be a general curmudgeon (such as myself) in 2013!
:-D
Happy New Year,A safe and prosperous new year to all….and a hope for no more Gangnam style…
for those not up on Gangnam style just Google it,it`s the only thing on Google right now.
So in 2013 we will likly have to wait till February 10 to get some fireworks. Ushering in the year of the snake.
The year of the snake. Will it be Christy Cobra or Adrian Anaconda ?
Man, I love it here but I can hardly wait to get back to the west coast, ringing in the new year on the beach with fire works.
Speaking of beah with fireworks ….. in Birch Bay the Bay Drive/Beach provides for a perfect setting to light it up with flares, private fireworks,as well as lantern balloons rising into the starlit sky.

BTW, the event is organized by the Chamber of Commerce and costs the village next to nothing since people/businesses buy their own flares, latern balloons and fireworks.
Wonder if we could do our own thing at this time of year or Canada Day lining up along part of the riverfront such as at Fort George Park.
Sky lanterns ….. maybe for the opening of the winter games …. city’s 100th birthday ….. the first annual Mayor’s birthday in the park festival?
