Crime Stoppers Nets $300K In Drugs And Loot In 2012
Prince George, BC – January is Crime Stoppers month and the local program is out with 2012 figures that are worth celebrating…
Last year, Prince George Crime Stoppers received 651 tips – resulting in 14 arrests and more than $300-thousand dollars in seized drugs and property. The program approved a total of 12 awards for information, amounting to $23-hundred dollars.
Since its inception in 1991, tips to PGCS have led to drug seizures totalling $33.3-million dollars, $2.8-million dollars worth of stolen property recovered, and 1419 arrests. A total of 516 awards have been approved over the program’s 21 years locally, valued at just under $160-thousand dollars.
PGCS’s President, Jack Hopper, is sending out a big ‘thank you’ on behalf of the Board of Directors to all citizens of Prince George and the surrounding community for continuing to provide vital information that has led to more arrests and seizures in 2012.
As part of Crime Stoppers month, program reps will be at two upcoming city events with free give-aways and a chance to win one of two computer tablets: Saturday, January 19th at the Northern Sports Centre during the UNBC Timberwolves games, and Saturday, January 26th at the Coliseum as the Spruce Kings host the Coquitlam Express.

Good to have a reminder though. I never really thought of calling Crime Stoppers. Might be a good idea at times.
It probably works better than calling direct during the commission of crime.
