We Are Certain The Free Press Would Want This Letter to The Editor Posted

Back in late December 250News fired off a letter to the Editor at The Free Press along with a phone message (that we did not get a call back on ) dealing with an editorial that had been posted in their paper.
It has been a few weeks and perhaps the Free Press either lost the e-mail or may have misplaced it. So we at 250News are publishing that letter to the editor, because we are certain that the Free Press would want the facts to be read.
Letter to the Editor:
On Monday, December 24th, the Free Press suggested that it was the “only” media outlet in town to make a call about the wrong trial date in the Legebokoff matter, that is wrong.
Your editorial says that Teresa Mallam was the only one to make the call. Hate to break it to you folks you are dead wrong. You go on to say that pre trial applications can be anything from an argument for a change of venue to a request for a publication ban. There already exists a publication ban. If your reporter attended the courtroom, Wednesday December 19th they would have seen the publication ban on the door leading into the court room. They also would have been informed of the circumstances surrounding the calling of two media outlets to task.
250News did not report that the trial date had been set, nor has it ever. We did report that Mr Justice Glen Parrett had taken two of the local media to task including HQ Prince George for misleading reporting. Had your reporter been in court they would have been afforded the opportunity to hear the Judge explain, why CKPG and HQ had been called before him, it wasn’t just about the inaccuracy of reporting a trial date.
Your editorial also noted “It was reported on a local website recently that the trial date for Cody Legebokoff would get underway on September 9th."
Good journalism, as you are aware, is in getting the facts right. You did not. Good journalism dictates that you do not, for example, suggest that the whole council is corrupt when perhaps only one member is. Courage of conviction dictates that you “get it right”, as you suggest.
There are at least five different “local websites” in the city, why so squeamish on reporting which one it was if your interest is getting it right?
I have made mistakes in the past and prey that in the future I will not repeat.

Seems to me I saw this in the Free Press not too long ago. I guess your (prayers) fell on deaf ears.
Was in the December 27th edition, which happens to still be online if you’re so interested in the facts.
You know you’re an anachronism when? When you attack someone to puff up your own ego and end up making a fool of yourself instead.
Yup there it is on Page 5 of the Dec 27 edition. I smell retraction in the air.
Oh Ben!
Glaring grammatical error.
It should be pray, not prey.
Ben, I also read the letter in the Free Press, and I thought that this kind of self-glorification is below you. It smacks of having a big ego and a degree of arrogance.
Are you telling me that 250News, in the effort to get the story out quickly, has never gotten a fact wrong?
At the bottom of my letter to the editor of the Free Press, I said, I do make mistakes and hope to not repeat them.
Well please accept my apology Free Press, I do not get a Free Press dropped at my door and missed the letter or phone call.
The thrust of my letter was to say, we all make mistakes, the proof is in this writing.
