Ballentyne Awarded Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal

Prince George, B.C.- The  CEO  of the Canada Winter Games 2015  Society, Stu Ballentyne, has been awarded a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.

The medal was awarded  to him at a ceremony  in Ottawa.

“I am honored and deeply touched to be awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal,” says Ballantyne. “My success in and contributions to the sports and entertainment industry are directly attributed to the hard work by and dedication of an entire team of individuals and I share this award with all of the colleagues, staff and volunteers of the great events I have been blessed to work on.”  

The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Medal was created to mark the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty’s accession to the Throne on February 6th, 1952.  The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal serves to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.  During the year of celebrations, 60 000 deserving Canadians will be recognized.  

 
Ballantyne, a double gold medalist in swimming at the 1977 Canada Summer Games, has extensive experience working in sport, having held the position of Chief Operating Officer for the Vancouver Giants Hockey Club, Project Director for the Molson Canadian Hockey House during the 2010 Winter Olympics, CEO for the 2009 World Police and Fire Games, General Manager for the 2007 Memorial Cup, General Manager for the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championship, and General Manager for the Molson Indy in Vancouver from 1996-2003.
