Walk for Memories Set for Sunday

Thursday, January 24, 2013 @ 3:51 AM
Prince George, B.C. –  It’s not too late to sign up to walk, or to make a donation to someone else who is walking in the “Walk for Memories” event set for this Sunday.

The walk is taking place on the indoor track at the Northern Sport Centre from 1:30 to 3:00.   The event is meant to raise funds to assist people in the community who are living with dementia, and raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
There are 23 such walks taking place throughout  the province as  part of National Alzheimer Awareness Month.

Each walk is dedicated to a person in the community who is living with dementia. The Prince George event is dedicated to Wayne Jenkins. He and his wife Ginny have participated in Alzheimer’s disease support groups for more than 25 years. There are more than 70 thousand people and families in B.C. living with dementia.
