Prince George, B.C. – RCMP say alcohol was a factor in a crash this morning that claimed the life of a female passenger.
Around 6 this morning, a 2012 Ford Escape, which had been reported stolen on January 15th, was involved in a single vehicle crash on Pacific Street, just north of the intersection with Continental Way and Industrial in the BCR site..
The female was dead at the scene, the driver had to be extracted by Prince George Fire / Rescue and was transported by the BC Ambulance Service to the University Hospital of Northern BC with non-life threatening injuries.
Members of the Prince George RCMP Traffic Services are leading the investigation with the assistance of North District RCMP Traffic Services.
Investigators believe the 42 year old male driver was impaired by alcohol at the time of the collision. The vehicle, a 2012 Ford Escape, has been confirmed to have been stolen from a location in Prince George on January 15th, 2013. The investigation is still in the early stages. More information will be provided at a later date.
Currently a portion of Pacific Street remains closed while officers investigate. Traffic has been re-routed around the scene.
