Ft St John- You don’t mess with the people of Buick, the tiny community north of Ft ST John. On Sunday residents spotted two people , John Wendell Keyler, and Sabaheta Alic driving along. The residents knew that he was wanted by the police and the citizens began to follow the pair in a vehicle that was later determined to be stolen.
Keyler and Alic slid into the ditch in their escape attempt. Both jumped from the vehicle and headed out on foot with the local residents keeping tab on them.
Alic gave up a short time later given the extreme cold, but Keyler got into a pick up producing a knife and threatening the driver . That driver drove into the ditch forcing Keyler to escape on foot. Wearing light clothing he was easily arrested by police without incident after being out in the elements in -24 c weather for a couple of hours.
He was taken to hospital in Ft St John by ambulance suffering from frostbite.
Keyler who is 28 was wanted on charges of possession of stolen property and possession of forged documents. He also faces a charge in connection with the vehicle theft.

Glad the bad guys were caught
Now lets hope they get real sentences for their crimes rather than a pat on the head and asked not to be bad anymore.
Hey Buick, yuh done good, hot damn!
We all should be like Buick
Very good example or what a caring community can do. We should follow suit.
Good smart thinking on the part of the person with the pickup!
