Some Kind Of Tailgate Party Planned?

Thursday, February 7, 2013 @ 1:29 PM

Prince George, BC – Prince George RCMP are out with a warning for pick-up truck owners – watch your tail…gate!

In the last 24-hours, RCMP have received reports of at least five tailgates being stolen off pick-up trucks parked in lots at CNC, Prince George Secondary, CN Centre and UNBC.

Police are urging truck owners to lock their tailgates.

Given the weight and size of the tailgates, it’s believed more than one person is responsible for the thefts and a vehicle is likely being used.  An investigation is underway.

Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP at 250-561-3300, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca, or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES (274637) using the keyword, ‘pgtips’.

Any specific make/model being targeted?

About 5 years ago a tail gate thief was in a accident on the hart & a stolen tail gate in his car ended his life. Now that’s KARMA

Ever price a tailgate at the dealer? The price they get for them is insane. No wonder they get pinched. A few years ago someone walked down the line at one of the local dealerships and walked off with a bunch of tailgates.

I guess they needed crack more than the owner needed the tailgate.

And the penalty is….? Again, it is to laugh.

Harbinger, I think if caught they’ll get “serious” probation, maybe even a conditional sentence order. If they ever did get jail it would be in days, not months. Justice??? lol.

And chances are those responsible have multiple convictions already.

Anyone want to live the chaos and horror of a person who has to steal tailgates for a living?
Not trying to exscuse their behavor, jut asking.

About 15 years ago I came out and my tailgate was half undone. I guess they got spooked or got lazy.

Don’t most tailgates have locks?
My low end GMC Canyon has one.

Always keep mine locked. Only takes a minute to take them off if that.

About ten years ago I came out from CNC one night and found all the trim was gone from my truck. I had a lariat and the trim was expensive to buy aftermarket. I never did replace it. It really sucks when something like that happens. My new truck doesn’t have trim that can be removed. These things happen I guess….

How about the chaos and horror of getting up every morning for 50 years and working hard to afford nice things for yourself, and your family? How about if the gov’t takes a large chunk of your hard earned wages to pay for thousands of programs to help lift up the less fortunate?
My nicely outfitted Dakota does not have a locking tailgate. I’ll have to inquire about having one installed.
Because we have nice things, we deserve to have them stolen by those who don’t have as much.

I think compensation should be first and foremost in sentencing. Then these types would find out what their actions cost their victims. If they get a small amount of ‘pay’ in jail, that should all go to the cpmpensation. You don’t get out until its paid off.

Jail the scum, dry bread and water only, lashings every six hours for about twenty-one days,,probably think twice about stealing again.

Don’t forget counselling and maybe in some cases a healing circle and smudge pot. Wave a feather and all is forgiven. Might work.

The police might make them promise to come to court. I cant get over how a criminal can promise to come to court. Can he be trusted? Just asking.
