Public Safety Concerns Leads To Arrest And Weapons Cache In Dawson Creek
Prince George, BC – Dawson Creek RCMP raided a home in that community after receiving information that a man was in possession of a gun and was believed to be a serious risk to public safety…
Members of the RCMP’s Municipal Drug Section and Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant and discovered two shotguns, a rifle, a machete, multiple knives and a small amount of cocaine.
North District RCMP’s Media Relations Officer, Constable Lesley Smith, says a 27-year-old man was taken into custody, without incident. He is facing 12 counts in connection with the incident, including four counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition contrary to a court order. Smith says the male has since been released from custody under strict court-imposed conditions and is scheduled to re-appear on March 5th.
Police believe there is a high likelihood the firearms were stolen, but they’ve been unable to confirm their origin. The guns seized were:
- a GIB model 3200 American Import CO. double barrel shotgun
- a Mark 4 British .303 rifle, and
- a Model 870 Remington 12 gauge shotgun
At this time, the detachment is issuing a thank you to the community for their support and is encouraging anyone with any further information to contact Dawson Creek RCMP at 250-784-3700, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Four counts of possession of a firearm for 3 firearms??????????
amo = 4
” possession of a firearm and ammunition contrary to a court order”
So he’s known to police from a prior court order.
Hey, guns and drugs don’t mix well. Glad they picked him up.
3 guns is a weapons cache? sounds more like an average house.
Average house in Dawson Creek.
Below average. Way below.
Yeh, most homes in the ‘north’ may have more than 3 guns; but mixed with the drugs found. Not a good thing. The right thing was done here.
I had guns when I was young and I smoked dope too. Bad mix you say. I doubt it. Just because you smoke dope doesn’t mean you’re a killer or a pshyco.
What drugs were they referring to? Aspirin?
As written in the report above “a small amount of cocaine”
He was possessing guns contrary to a court order. Should not have released him.
