Prince George, BC – The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is seeking public input on two projects proposed for Northern BC…

The Brucejack Gold Mine is an underground gold-silver mine proposed approximately 65-kilometres north-northwest of Stewart, BC.

Pretium Resources Inc. says the mine would produce approximately 16-million tonnes of mineralized material at a rate of up to 2700 tonnes per day over a minimum mine lifespan of 16-years.

Hillsborough Resources Ltd is proposing the construction, operation, and de-commissioning of a coal mine approximately 44-kilometres north of Tumbler Ridge.

The Echo Hill Coal Mine project is estimated to produce 1.0 to 1.5-million tonnes of thermal coal per year over an estimated mine lifespan of 10-14 years. (map courtesy CEAA)

The CEAA is seeking public comments in an effort to determine whether a federal environment assessment is required for each project.  People wanting to comment on the projects and or the potential effects on the environment have until February 28th to do so by emailing Brucejack@ceaa-acee.gc.ca or EchoHill@ceaa-acee.gc.ca.  The agency’s mailing address is 410-701 George Street West, Vancouver, BC V7Y 1C6.
