PGX Goes Into 101st Year With New Name…And New GM
Prince George, BC – As preparations get underway for the 101st PGX, the annual fair will transition to a new name…and will be under new leadership.
After seven years at the helm as General Manager, Terri McConnachie has announced she is "hanging up her Stetson" in that role. (at right, McConnachie shown in 250 News file photo)
McConnachie was responsible for steering the PGX to its most successful event ever last August with record crowds and an expanded list of events and activities to mark the local exhibition’s 100th anniversary.
The 101st fair marks the move to a new name and expanded regional brand as the "British Columbia Northern Exhibition (BCNE).
"It is time (for) a change and for someone else to bring their creativity and enthusiasm to the table," says McConnachie.
"This organization has come through a few really tough years and emerged to pull off a landmark centennial event," says the proud outgoing GM. "There has not been one dull moment and, by far, this is the best and most challenging job I have ever had."
McConnachie says the future for the BCNE looks bright with a hard-working board in place, an army of invested volunteers, and new sources of potential funding streams this year. She says she looks forward to attending the event as a fair-goer, when area residents are challenged to ‘Get Your Country On’ from August 9-11 this summer.
McConnachie will stay on until the end of March.

You did a great job Ms. McConnacie! Thanks for your efforts and good luck with your future endeavours.
thanks for a great job,,,you showed our city proud,,,,run for mayor maybe???
Hats off to her for the work she has done for this great Community event. I think I speak for all those who have benefitted from her hard work; that we can only hope she continues to work in a field that makes our City a better place!
Paint an old shed and you still have an old shed.
I do not understand why the name has to change, it saddens me almost as much as the move of Mr. PG. If it’s not broke, dont fix it. Is the name change going to make the event even MORE sucessful? I guess the personality assessment I did at work is spot on, I do not like change lol.
NoWay, do you speak from personal experience? I bet you could use a new coat of paint to cover up your personality rust.
StellaBella, perhaps you should ASK questions of those who may know the answers or better yet, look back on news archives of the summer, it’s explained there. If you don’t like change, get ready for it whether you want to or not, we are in a rapidly changing world and we can’t stop it.
Thanks so much to Terri, the fair last summer was FANTASTIC, you and your army of volunteers truly make magic happen, I hope the next person in your shoes can continue this great event in our city!
