Fort St. John, B.C. – Police and fire officials are investigating a trailer fire that claimed the lives of two people in Fort St. John last Thursday night.

On February 14th at 10:16 pm, first responders, including the Fort St John RCMP, the Fort St John Fire Department and BC Ambulance Service responded to a report of an explosion and fire in a trailer at the Southridge Trailer Park on 82nd Street.
Witnesses say they felt and heard a large explosion and went outside and saw a trailer engulfed in flames. A neighbour tried to gain entry to help the occupants but was unable to enter due to the intense flame and heat. Once on scene, the Fire Department worked quickly to extinguish the fire.

"Police can confirm that two deceased persons have been located inside the residence and police are currently working to positively identify these victims" says Cpl Kate Bamber of the Fort St. John Detachment.

The Fort St John Forensic Identification Unit is investigating along with the Fire Commission and the BC Coroner’s Service.
RCMP are asking members of the public to please contact police if they have any further information. If you would like to remain anonymous please call CRIME STOPPERS at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
