Bell Bowing Out, Will Not Run
Sunday, February 17, 2013 @ 2:59 PM
Prince George, B.C. – Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Development, Pat Bell, will not be running in the upcoming Provincial election.
Bell made the announcement his afternoon at the Prince George office which will be the campaign headquarters for the
Liberal candidates in the Prince George-Mackenzie and Prince George- Valemount ridings.

Citing health concerns, Bell made the announcement moments ago to shocked attendees at the office opening. He told those gathered that he has been diagnosed with a rare aneurism which is being monitored.
First elected in 200l, he was re-elected in 2005, and again in 2009.
During his time in office, he has served as Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation; Minister of Forests, Mines and Lands; Minister of Forests and Range; Minister of Agriculture and Lands; and as the first Minister of State for Mining.
Prior to entering politics, Bell was a successful small business owner in Prince George.
More to come.

If you can’t swim I guess it’s best to get off the boat before it sinks!
Sorry to hear about the health concerns Pat. The BC Liberal Party is done anyway, so might as well hang it up and look after your health.
Too bad. He would’ve easily beaten whoever the NDP candidate was.
I hauled logs with Pat Bell many years back he’s a good guy and through hard work has been very successful.Good luck to him.
Politics can be draining and always unforgiving, somethimes good people go down with the ship, wish you the best pat. health and family come first.
He really worked hard for us.
A wise decision.
Although very much against what the Liberals have done with respect to their accountability, I have always felt that Pat has been a very hard worker with the best of intentions.
I won’t be surprised if he moves to Vancouver/Victoria for access to the specialist.
What is the wait time for heart surgery in PG? Is Shirley Bond’s heart healthy enough for her to run?
Always seemed like a smart dude to me. I played in his Mackenzie golf tourney a couple times. Good event.
I too have an aneurism that needs to be monitored. It doesn’t stop me from carrying on with daily activities. I think he just doesn’t want to see how many votes he’s going to lose by.
I do wish him the best of health at any rate. He’ll be packing his bags for the island is my bet.
Good luck Pat.
Depends where your aneurism is and the severity,a co worker had one in his brain luckily he survived I know others who were not so lucky.
Pat was at an event about a week ago when I saw him. He did not look very well to me at that time.
I am sorry to hear that this is happening to him, but am thinking that with today’s medical capabilities he will be in good hands no matter which way it will progress.
His shoes will be very difficult to fill, especially at this time.

I would be interested to know what your daily activities are compared to a politician like Pat Bell. I doubt you are working with the kind of stress and hours he has to put in.
BCRacer … your hatred continues to show big time …. you obviously were deprived of love in your childhood that you have so much disrespect …..
Gus,aneurysms have nothing to do with stress or long hours. You’re supposed to be the great researcher. Figure it out.
My heart breaks knowing this dedicated gentleman is not well. Pat Bell is one of the hardest working politicians that I haveeer met. He and Shirley have been a great team fighting for BC especially the north since day 1. His shoes WILL be tough to fill. God bless dear Pat.

Well, I do not agree with your opinion on that medical matter.
I know enough about it that my opinion, as a second opinion is good enough for this purpose.
First, let me make it clear that we are now no longer talking about cause, we are talking about treatment in order to stop further growth of the aneurism.
Assuming it is an arterial aneurism possibly located in the aorta, blood pressure should be monitored and controlled. High blood pressure can ensure that the aneurism will not only grow, but also grow more rapidly. High blood pressure can be caused by many factors, including stress, lack of sufficient rest, etc.
Stress and long hours can impact high blood pressure which, in turn, impacts the growth of aneurysms.
I wonder which hack will be appointed by Crispy to run in Pat’s place.
Thank you Dr Gus
BC Racer, Camoos, NoWay……
Sometimes I wonder how people like you live…..must be friendless and lonely…I sincerely hope you never have a health issue and people make comments like yours about you.
You should be ashamed of yourselves for comments like that.

I have a car and Pat Bell has a car…that must mean they are the exactly the same.
Regardless of your politics Pat should be recognized for the hard work he has done for the city and surrounding area for the past 12 years.
Just over a week ago my cousin died of an aneurysm. He was visiting his mother, and went out to his truck to leave, got in to drive away and before he got the keys in the ignition to drive away, the aneurysm happened.Pat Bell is fortunate to have a fighting chance at this, and I wish him the best of luck, even though I do not support his government, as I can have empathy for what he and his family are going through.
Gus:
Thanks for your comments again.
I can only wish Pat Bell the very best in his health and personal life. Pat, Shirley and John have worked hard for us Central Interiorers.
Pat Bell has represented this area for alot of years and with hard work and a real northern attitude.
To anyone who has any comments about sinking ships and political stripes. I hope you never have to deal with a life altering medical condition.
If you watched the news last night, the politicians from all stripes were more than gracious in wishing Pat well on facing his challenges. Too bad the yahoos who live in the riding don’t feel the same.
