Prince George, B.C.- There will be a fireworks display at the Canada Day Celebrations in Prince George this year, but the display is not being paid for by City.
Instead, corporate sponsorship was sought, and Canfor has stepped up to the plate. "We are delighted to sponsor the Canada Day fireworks in Prince George as part of Canfor’s 75th Anniversary celebrations" said CEO Don Kayne. in a release issued this morning "With four manufacturing facilities, our tree nursery and our forestry and administrative operations based here, Prince George is central to our company." According to Kayne, Canfor was invited by Mayor Green to pick up the tab for the $10 thousand dollar display.
The Canada Day celebrations are the result of hard work by the Multicultural Heritage Society. The Society’s Executive Director, Marlies Greulich says they welcome the return of the display "The Festival is Canada’s Birthday celebration and we have always equated the Fireworks display as the Birthday Candles.”

Thanks Canfor!
Jes’ wondering, if those fireworks are made in China, why do they cost so much?
Give more………..market demand..plain and simple………Oh, and if can be done for less by someone else they would jump inot the competition….simple!

This is great news and it is excellent to see our corporate citizens treating our city to a fireworks display. Thank you Canfor.
Green and crew staying home and not wandering off to China on a fruitless mission spending taxpayer dollars would have easily handled a half dozen years of fireworks displays.
But then again council priorities don’t necessarily mesh with the taxpayer.
Thanks to Canfor.
