Giles’ Time Ends On Heritage Commission
Prince George, BC – She has served on the Prince George Heritage Commission for six years and, yesterday, Dr. Valerie Giles was recognized for her contributions to preserve and promote the city’s heritage.
Speaking at the Seedy Saturday event that is part of Heritage Week, Commission Chair, Jeff Elder, said city committee rules make it dictate that Giles must now take a break from her role as a member, but said the Commission ‘certainly intends to keep her busy’.
Elder pointed out that Giles has carried out invaluable research and writing for the Commission over the years.
For her part, Giles encouraged other city residents to consider getting involved on the city’s volunteer commission. "I want people to start thinking in terms of – if you have a particular interest in helping us perserve the heritage, that you might consider serving in the future."
