And did our city government have to pay someone to make it happen – Not they way I want my tax dollars spent if they did!
I think the way it works is that the bookings are made and paid for by the City, and all revenues from the CN Centre goes to the cost of operating this facility.
So at the end of the day, we know that the CN Centre loses something like $300,000.00 per year. A big portion of this loss can be attributed to the Cougar franchise, (my guess $60,000.00 per annum) and the balance to other events that don’t pay their way.
The problem with the Cougars being subsidized is that they are a private business’s and therefore should have to pay their own way.
Chief Sherry and the gang have their own suite at CN Centre?
northman… while the city may need some Dr Feelgood to Kickstart My Heart….. maybe this time Tommy Lee will actually play, unlike last time they were in PG eight years ago.
just for clarification, there is no Vancouver date even though they market it as such…. they are playing in Abbotsford in an arena the same size as CN Centre.
Yet have the cojones to call it “Their biggest Canadian tour ever”… ya… right. Sure it is.
(shrug) oh well… I’d still go. Enjoy it PG!!

Looking at the tour locations, I’d definitely say that statement is true. After all, they are playing Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Ottawa and Montreal. I guess it’s just Vancouver getting the shaft . . .
missing Poppa, you can bet that this event will be of net financial benefit to the city. It will almost certainly sell out (or be very close to it) and like Palopu said, that will help cut into the operating deficit that the CN Centre has.
I’m not sure who has been responsible for booking events at CN Centre for the past few years, but I’d go so far as to say they are doing an INCREDIBLE job. With the quality of acts being brought into PG on a fairly consistent basis, it actually wouldn’t surprise me to see the CN Centre with an operating surplus at some point in the future. IMHO, this is a shining example of something being done RIGHT in the city.
Saw them last time they were here….with my hearing going, the level of sound is now about right. Their rendition of “Smoking in the Boys Room” brings back smoky memories:) Rock on….
I sure hope these shows do make money cause the average taxpaying attendee is paying at least twice for every show – once for the ticket and once for the taxes to make up for the shortfall to operating expenses of the CN Centre. So yes, NMG, it is very good to see these employees doing not just their jobs, but a good one.
Dear Northman, I am Thrilled! to hear you are going to be able to relive your misspent youth, and am certain you will enjoy every loud minute of it.
I do hope you have your mullet freshly trimmed, get your best ripped jeans pressed at the drycleaners, a pocket full of weed to suck on, and don’t hit any roadblocks on the way home.
Rock on geriatic teenagers!
Just don’t expect me and the rest of the city to pay promoter fees (like the ones Opinion250 were showing on an earlier post) to bring this dreck to town. And No, I don’t expect the general population of PG to pay for the art gallery, symphony or the Canada Games either, but some idiots in civic government decided to spend money on those too. Bizarre that you think we want to pay for this stupid stuff when we can’t afford to fix roads etc.
If ya don’t like them don’t go, why complain ? I am not a country fan so I don’t go to any country concerts, but my friends that do go have fun. At least we are getting more acts coming to town.
