Zurowski Takes a Pass on Liberal Nomination
Prince George, B.C. – The deadline for filing nominations papers to take a shot at becoming the next Liberal candidate for the Prince George Mackenzie riding is just hours away and one of those whose name has been bantered around as being a possible contender will not be in the running.
Don Zurowski, a former Councillor with the City of Prince George, has decided he will not have his name stand in the nomination process "I have given it a great deal of thought" says Zurowski, "but the timing is not right for me." He says he is honoured that people would think he would make a suitable candidate, but he will not proceed.
The nomination period closes at 4:30 this afternoon. At this point, the sole confirmed candidate seeking the nomination is Mike Morris, the former RCMP Superintendent and President of the Prince George-Mackenzie Liberal riding association.
The Liberal Riding Association is looking for a new Liberal candidate following news MLA Pat Bell would not be seeking re-election because of health reasons.

The mayor’s job is his for the taking if he wants it.
I wouldn’t bet on that lonesome sparrow.
Don pls. consider the PG mayors job.
A sock puppet would handily beat Ms. Green:)
Be careful what you wish for. I would be on the first train out of town if Zurowski were mayor. Don likes himself a lot and his last bid for mayor put him in his place. If you think Kinsley and Rogers were self important with the lead role – Zurowski beats them hands down.
One of the reasons he lost to Rogers was because people perceived him as a Kinsley clone.
Mind you, he could take a page out of the NDP’s playbook and run on the “I’m not Sheri Green” platform and still win.
Smart guy, why jump on to a sinking ship.
Looks like Don had a previous spring vacation planned ……
I find it interesting that Don even spoke to the media about what I would have thought were personal matters.
I still have 2 hours to decide …… this is a last minute town. :-)
Go for it Gus. If there are enough people running the split vote could make anyone a winner.
I forgot, I have to go to get some photographic prints done to donate for a charity event this weekend ….
darn, such an opportunity slips by again because of previous committments … ;-)
So, it is all up to you now Palopu …. less than an hour to go ……. :-)
Don Z is very ethical and passionate about PG,BC and Canada. He would have done an fine job as MLA.
GOOD!
Zurowski should have stuck with automagic and community futures.
I’m not a Zurowski fan, but have a certain amount of respect for the man’s acumen, so see this as a statement that he thinks the NDP will win this seat handily.
“I have given it a great deal of thought” says Zurowski, “but the timing is not right for me.”
Speaks volumes.

oops, I refreshed and it resent . . .
I don’t know Mr. Zurowski but if he is from the same ilk as our council he might find a good home with the Lieberals. Mr. Skakun is the councilor that should go for the Mayors Chair. IMHO

Yeah, it doesn’t say much about Zurowski if the reason he isn’t running is because (gasp!) he’s not guaranteed to win!
Good call Don…no reason to hitch yourself to a sinking ship.
Of course he takes a pass. Who would be dumb enough to board a sinking canoe?
