Passengers Praised for Efforts Following Bus Roll Over

McBride, B.C. – It was team work on the part of passengers that prevented Saturday night’s Greyhound bus incident from becoming a tragedy.
The east bound bus skidded off highway 16 east near Dome Creek, rolling onto its side down an embankment just before midnight on Saturday.
When it came to a stop, three of the passengers were buried in snow. “If it had not been for the efforts of the other 15 passengers, who worked together as a team to dig out those three, this incident could have had a tragic ending” says North District RCMP Media Liaison Constable Lesley Smith.
Cst. Smith says in all, four people were taken to hospital for treatment of injuries, two were sent to McBride, and two others sent to Prince George. The worst of the injuries was a dislocated shoulder.
The rest of the passengers were taken to the YRB maintenance yard near Slim Creek where another bus picked them up so they could continue their journey.
McBride RCMP and the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Team continue to investigate the roll over. A mechanical inspection of the bus will be part of the investigation.

Oh come on…enough with the hyperbole. Basically what we are lead to believe is that because of only a truly heroic effort, 4 people who had but one dislocated shoulder between them, all owe their lives to the 15 other passengers who fought ever so hard against the forces of apathy that so grips individuals at a time of crisis?
It is nice to see they didn’t just stand around and watch those 4 freeze like popsicles stuck in a tray in the freezer.
A great ending, considering that most of them were probably sound asleep until that moment… good job guys and gals…
Styxxx: You certainly seem to read a lot into a report that isn’t there. Sure you’re not a lawyer or a politician?
The other passengers did a good job, the decent thing to do, like most of us would. Hope I don’t ride with you anytime soon.
Give? Quote where I read too much into it. Bus tips over 15 passengers climb out and help dig the other 4 out, instead of huddling together on the road and doing nothing.
My point was it is no-less than would be expected. It would almost be a violation of any good-Samaritan law to stand idly by.
The characterization reported in the RCMP pablum was a little over the top in my estimation.
Good news from the RCMP’s media officer is welcome anytime … if I was upside down in the snowbank over the bank by Dome Creek in the middle of the night in early March, I would definitely be thanking those who dug me out…loudly, profusely and perhaps even with hyperbole ….
âIf it had not been for the efforts of the other 15 passengers, who worked together as a team to dig out those three, this incident could have had a tragic endingâ
Seems like a pretty factual statement to me – I dont see the words “heroic” anywhere
Glad everyone is alright
Good work all… way to step up when needed.
Styxxx, glad it is only your estimation.
Glad it all turned out ok
have a good evening everyone.
Funniest part is that Styxxx would be the one not helping the others out. Styxxx would be standing there frantically trying to figure out how to over-analyze the situation and then post about it on the internet.
Kudos to the passengers that helped out in the difficult situation.
pfft…the whining hoard that brays at every fluff piece however poorly written.
Grab a brain. So if the passengers hadn’t stepped in, the four would have perished? Yeah right. Go right on thinking that way.
To those of you who don’t really understand what the comments board is for. An article is posted and we are free to offer an opinion on the veracity of it.
To the pablum eating three-year olds that like group hugs and puppies and kittens for everyone, save the personal attacks. They just ring hollow when the only “summit” you ever attained was climbing from your mom’s basement.
Cheer up buttercup–this is a good news story.
Styxxx…your constant negativity must lead you down a very miserable life road….
You are to be pitied.
Yes summit this is definitely a good news story, unlike the majority of negative stories we usually see in the media. Props to those who helped save the day, or night rather. And styxx, lighten up!
Yes, styxx, although I agree that comments on O250 can be negative at times, why do you have to add to it with your assumption that those who were stuck in snow wouldn’t have perished without the help of the group? We don’t know either way as we weren’t there. The best we have to go by is the statement in the article from those in the know. This is a good news story, and I’m glad everyone worked together and is safe. I’m pretty sure styxx would help the group if he/she were ever to find themselves in that situation.
