100 Mile House, B.C. – Four men are in custody and face drug related charges following Police discovery of a marijuana grow op southeast of 100 Mile House.
On March 2nd, RCMP officers from the North District Integrated Marijuana Enforcement Task Force and the 100 Mile House detachment, executed a search warrant on a residence on Coglan Road, near Roe Lake, about 50 kms southeast of 100 Mile House.
The search uncovered a grow op in the residence and in an outbuilding on the property. More than 1,000 marijuana plants were seized, along with about 50 pounds of packaged dried bud.
RCMP peg the street value of the seizure at more than $1.15 million dollars.
Three adult males from the Lower Mainland of BC and a fourth adult male from Poland have been arrested and face charges of Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance For the Purpose of Trafficking. They will be making their first court appearances in July.

Again, yes boys and girls, “Crime does not pay”. Remember that. As for this grow-op, go big or go home. Six plants or a thousand plants the penalty is the same. Four men in custody? Maybe September 2014 when they go before the judge.
Yes it does pay, and pays well. If the courts are consistant these fellows will be given a slap on the wrist and sent on their way… or maybe house arrest.
Should be dropped and the bone head cops that investigated should lose their jobs and should have to apologize for wasting tax payers money.
AND the fourth one from Poland should be put on a plane and sent home and BANNED from entering Canada again.
At this moment cannabis is a prohibited substance and “the bone head cops” were doing their job to the letter of the law.
Regardless of your opinion, it is illegal to grow, possess or consume cannabis.
IMHO, it should not be illegal.
Now if you want to really affect this situation, start by hounding you MP. The MP is the only one that can affect the situation because in Canada, the prohibition is a federal statute. Alas, PM Harper has blatantly stated that cannabis will never be legalized or decriminalized while he is in office. He has gone further in stating that it will not even be debated.
About 40% of Adult Canadians consume, and almost 70% have tried it. (rough stats from memory. I know someone will quibble the numbers)
That is way better stats than voter turn out.
So if voter turn out is less than consumption, how can we get our MP to buy into the idea that this law should be changed or even champion for the people if the people don’t voice their desires.
One must remember where and when this law was made.
The early part of the 20th century was a time of great change and a great desire by the powers that were to continue the feudal model of population control based on racism and misogyny and to maintain the status quo of socio-econo strata.
They wanted to keep the rich richer, and the poor working for them as not much more than paid, unkept slaves.
To top it off, it was the American government that induced the Canadian government of the time to implement this law to coincide with their (the ruling elite) ideals.
If you want to modernize the laws, you must participate in the vote. You can’t just kick back, smoke a fatty and wait for someone else to speak on your behalf.
Join a major party, not the marijuana party.
Be active in the party.
Be sure to vote and encourage everyone else to participate in the vote.
Have honest discussions.
Make sure to speak to your MP. Your MLA has very little influence on this. If many MP’s are avalanched with many voter letters, they may start to take notice.
“May” is the key word.
Don’t be a burn out hooka user.
Sure are right. Thanks Loki, good point. One thing for sure, we have lots of jobs. I had a hand in growing a couple of years ago. It was fun and learned a lot about the weed. There is like, so many things you can do with it.I didn’t like the sneaking around though. I wanted to learn how to make cloth and food out of it. However I was so scared of getting caught. Awe it’s a tough weed eh. Makes better paper. It’s not just the bud that interests me. We don’t really need a bitumen pipeline. We can make fuel out of it. See I have always been quite an environmentalist, since high school in the 80’s. One of many reasons why I moved to BC from Ontario.
Docu out there called Magic weed. See if I can find it on google or youtube.
Here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2gtdItKxZ I remember this to be quite long. I see this video is broken up, but it’s still out there.
You poor people that need an artificial high. My high comes from going on a hike on a beautiful day like this.
Cannabinoid is a sea plant that met up with a tropical weed on an island from what I remember being told.
I rather see us grow this and make products out of it than our, cough, cough pulp mills.
It will be interesting to see how things work out for Washington State now that they have legalized it across the border.
Alright procannabis, I am glad you see my point of view.
I am saddened by your common lack of knowledge on the subject, that also makes you part of the problem, here is why.
You stated that you grew cannabis and learned a lot about it. What you did not learn is that cannabis has the intoxicating components that make dTHC9desirable to consume. Cool, me too.
You also stated that you learned there are many things that it can be used for and you detail paper and clothing.
Cannabis does not make paper. Hemp, a very close relative of cannabis has the cellulose used in paper making and the fiber structure for making fabric and rope, et el.
Cannabis is to get high.
Hemp makes hard goods.
I want you to support the decriminalization, but the collective “we” and “us” need you to be well informed to do so.
Now the question becomes, do you support cannabis, or do you support hemp, or do you support both?
I happen to support both.
oops, mistyped “make dTHC9desirable”
should have read “make d9THC desirable”
I support both. I’m surprised that Washington State did something first and BC and Canada went the other way. Canada used to be pretty progressive, and willing to try things out.
It’s not illegal to smoke it.
Tobacco, now that’s a nasty drug. There is five thousand chemicals in it.
puff,puff,pass
Tobacco, now that’s a nasty drug. There is five thousand chemicals in it.
Look at this http://www.tricountycessation.org/tobaccofacts/Cigarette-Ingredients.html
Seamutt, nothing artificial about the high you get from pot. But there is from a hike. In my younger years when I did partake it enhanced what ever I was doing. Hiking, frisbee, golf, Salt n vinegar chips :) I didnt need it to enjoy my day.. it was a change.. just like a glass of wine or drink..
We waste so much tax dollars and police time on this weed. time to legalize it, tax it and move on.
Let’s see the cops raid a pot farm but would they raid a pot farm on a reservation? In Quebec and Ontario cigarettes are illegally manufactured on reservations and have accounted for 40% cigs smoked in those provinces. The police will not raid onto reservations. That is the place to grow your highs if not done already.
And suddenly I see a way for the Attiwapiskat arena to make money.

The argument over whether on not pot should be legalized is boring to say the least. Who cares. Most people in Canada probably 90% do not smoke this crap.
One thing is certain. If pot was legalized the pot heads would smoke it, and if it remains illegal the pot heads will smoke it. Either way they will do what they want and to hell with everybody else.
Older conservative folks will always be against it. Well over 60% smoke Cannabis, your figures are pretty off. I think you are in denial.
Keeping it illegal keeps the gangs in the money…the police in the bust business…the lawyers and judges in the legal business…….another prime example of free enterprise at work.
Take a look at that picture of Bob Zimmer. He looks like the biggest stiff I ever seen. He was probably born in that suit. There isn’t anything progressive about him. Who does he really represent? He reminds me of Alex p Keaton of Family Ties. A throw back to the Reagan years. Even the United States has matured since then, what’s wrong with us here?
60%? So 48000 people in Prince george smoke dope? I don’t buy that for a second.
Oh ps – dear dope smokers. You can be smelled from a block away so don’t bother acting so nonchalant when your standing in line at the bank or store. Every person in the building knows your stoned.
So!
A quick google search will tell you Canada loves it’s weed.

Time to stop the denial.
I can law enforcement wanting illegal. Huge money going into keeping it outlawed.
interceptor: “Oh ps – dear dope smokers. You can be smelled from a block away so don’t bother acting so nonchalant when your standing in line at the bank or store. Every person in the building knows your stoned.”
LOL. No kidding! You can smell these guys from a block away. And they think they’re being so sneaky. Just another thing for you dopers to be paranoid about next time you fire one up.
I don’t get paranoid.
pps – after you leave, the tellers and the other people in line laugh at you and make jokes about your “condition” :)
condition lol
We just don’t care if you can smell it. We don’t feel the need to hide it.
A guy goes home after work and drinks a bottle of rye. Beats his wife senseless, drives and kills a family………..
A guy goes home after work, smokes a joint. Eats a couple extra pieces of pizza.
Alcohol contributes to way more problems. Yet it’s still legal hmmmmm
I am not against pot smokers, I dont smoke it, or consume it. If people want to use it, go ahead. I dont think the number hits 60% or even 40% of the population. It might hit 40% on people between 18 – 24.
Pot heads gets stoned and are usually in their own little world. Usually very little harm done. If you have been a pot head for a several decades, you may create other health problems.
If they legalize it. This will take a lot of money out of the underground, and you will be able to tax it better. reduce a lot of crime.
Would a clinical view interest anyone? Marijuana is a powerful terratogen (harms fetuses developing in pregnant women). It causes still births , respiratory problems, and evidence is linked through longitudinal studies that it is strongly a contributor to alzheimers. Okay that said, one of the most overlooked detrimental effects of marijuana use is the offspring of users who witness and grow up to partake in this social problem. Marijuana is known to reduce inhibitions which may be the etiology of “I don’t care, ” attitudes and “Not important” attitudes also tregarding holding down a job, fighting for causes, supporting your children and or trying to comply to rules and laws. In prince George it is estimated 13% of adults and 29 % of youths use marijuana. It is on the grow as evidenced by these stats. When the stats indicate younger generation use to be greater than older generation use you have what’s known as a pandemic. My personal opinion. Legalize it, In the “Harm Reduction” model, Marijuana is far less damaging than alcohol. “The lesser of 2 evils” But in an ideal world, neither would be used. Has anyone ever noticed the long blonde haired guy in PG with a long goatee? This man has a nasty attitude toward people, his children and authority. He is a bum living off his wife and doesn’t care about his kids witnessing his use. This is my example of the overlooked problem surrounding marijuana use. You make your conclusions.
Meanwhile air quality suffers from pulp mills. Saying Cannabis hurts the lungs is rather redundant.
Alcohol is the cause and the solution to all life’s problems.
Homer Simpson
Good debate folks.
Hey folks, if it was legalized, great. But it ain’t, so everytime you buy off the scumbags, you’re supporting organized crime.
So next time you have a problem, call the scumbags, not the cops.
Isn’t it stupid though? People who smoke dope complain about cigarette smoke, and the thing that kills a lot of people is drinking and it’s legal, strange world we live in.
By the way cops, good haul!
Smart ass
And there you have it folks, from the brown nosed grizzly himself !
And there you have it folks, from the brown nosed grizzly himself !
lol :()
Don’t worry, griz… pot smokers hate ‘keeping it real’.
Not fair, you don’t know me. I am telling you keeping Cannabis illegal is making a lot of victims in this country. I think we should use our full real names on this site. I think it’s easy to hide behind nic names. I am sure that there is a number of people would agree with me on this issue. It shows integrity.
I don’t really care if it’s legal or not, because I don’t smoke it, but the usual arguments for decriminalizing it don’t hold water in my view. The government won’t realize much of a tax windfall, gangs won’t go away.
If legalized, it will just create a whole new set of rules and regulations for growing and distribution, do you think the government will let people grow as much as they want? Etc. etc.
As far as using real names, you’re free to do so, but you’ll notice almost nobody does. I don’t need to have some nutcase threaten to burn my house down because he doesn’t agree with what I have to say.
That’s true
