BC Conservatives Say They Will Phase Out Carbon Tax

Vancouver- The BC conservatives say they will repeal the carbon tax if they form government.
The items were included in the Conservatives budget and fiscal framework. It shows that the party would phase out the carbon tax over a four year period with an annual reduction of $300 million dollars.
The total cost to implement the phase out is estimated at $1.2 billion dollars.
Scott Anderson, Chair of the BC Conservative Public Finance committee, says the tax is fundamentally unfair. It hurts BC residents based on where they live and the business they work in.

I hate the carbon tax as much as anyone, but where are they going to get that 1.2 billion to make up for the cost of phasing out the tax?
By raising some other tax. When the Carbon tax was brought in, personal income tax exemptions and tax rates were lowered to offset it. So, if you are a person who burns lots of carbon fuels, this is good for you. If you are not, this is bad for you because likely income tax will go up.
The difference is that some of us will figure out how to use less gas. Maybe we bike to work, keep the house 1 degree lower.
With income tax, the only way to pay less is to work less.
….and in May BC voters will phase out BC Conservatives!
Sorry Taxed Out, the liberal party is probably on its way out and maybe just maybe the conservative party will win with the undecided vote.
This is a good move by the conservative to propose a phase out of a regressive tax on productivity and in all likelihood replace it with a progressive income tax.
A flat tax on an essential commodity for heating our homes and transportation is about making the rich richer at the expense of the poor. Its a poll tax on the poor and middle income earners transferring taxation to the poor and middle income earners, with tax cuts to the rich.
The carbon tax has nothing to do with the environment… its a general revenue fund to pay for tax cuts to corporations and the rich.
The snap of a finger gives you the carbon tax. It should be the snap of the same finger to dump it.
A Sky_Train from Beaverly into town, stopping at College Heights could lessen our carbon footprint here in PG. Maybe taking the equivilent of 346 F-150s and 250s and even some 350s off the road. But then again how do I get a couple of 2X4s, and some gyprock, and some fence posts home to Beaverly? Also a wind turbine on Cranbrook Hill? Never mind. Forget it.
We could all stop breathing! That should reduce a little co2!
Who is running for the Cons here?? Have I missed it or are they just low flying candidates? Perhaps para~jumpers….
Until they reverse their position on the pipeline, it doesn’t matter what they promise, they’re not getting in
I do not understand how these taxes are implemented overnight, but take forever and millions of millions of dollars to get rid of. The Carbon Tax has always been a tax grab. Vancouverites and other cities with reliable options of transit are the only ones who should pay this ridiculous tax.
Depending on the data set no global warming for 17 to 23 years. Even the IPCC admits no warming. The C02 scam is fast falling apart.
Any government who stops the foolish spending of the Liberals could easily eliminate the carbon tax. ie: Basi and Virk trial, new roof on BC Place — there is lots more where money was wasted.
I don’t care if mICKEY mOUSE IS RUNNING FOR THE Conservatives — anything that isn’t Liberal or NDP gets my vote and always has.
cummings are ya nuts…
Camel bones found in the artic, that’s about all the info I need to refute this global warming poop, explain that Todd Whitcomb.
