Crowd Can’t Boost Spruce Kings To A Win

Prince George, BC –  A sell out crowd of more than 2100 fans watched the Salmon Arm SilverBacks defeat the hometown Spruce Kings 5-3 to close out the regular season at the Coliseum last night.

The SilverBacks were riding a high of squeaking into the play-offs with an overtime win in Merritt the night before, and were up 3-1 at the end of the first period.

The second period was scoreless, with both teams notching two goals in the the third for a the final 5-3 tally in Salmon Arm’s favour.

Coltyn Hansen had a goal and two assists for Prince George.  The other markers came from Lyndon Martell and Shayne Morrissey.  Kirk Thompson stopped 27 of 32 shots on net.

The Spruce Kings finish the regular season with 59-points and a 24-26-1-and-5 record.  They have the week to re-group before round one of the play-offs begin for them next Friday night in Chilliwack.  Game three goes Monday in Prince George.
