BC Completes Enbridge Questioning

Friday, March 22, 2013 @ 10:17 AM
Prince George, B.C. – The Government of British Columbia has wrapped up its cross-examination at the Northern Gateway Pipeline Joint Review Panel hearings.

The province has been asking the pipeline representatives questions about B.C. concerns about the project. Environment Minister Terry Lake says “Through our cross-examination we didn’t get as much information as we hoped to from Northern Gateway on how they intend to deliver the world-leading spill prevention, response and remediation that we require. That is something we feel the panel will give due consideration.”

The final round of questioning in Prince Rupert dealt with shipping and navigation. Discussion focused on the use of tug escorts, tanker vetting and inspection, navigation routes, and the company’s work is assessing the potential for tanker spills. It was confirmed that NGP would not require tankers to exclusively use the routes identified in its application.

B.C. has set five key requirements that must be met before the province will support any heavy oil pipeline project. The final arguments phase of the Joint Review Panel process is scheduled for May and June.

It is a done deal! Harper gave the oil companies everything they wanted with new legislation that got rid of any safe guards for waterways & the enviorment. Got rid of scientists & or had the ones that were left to be shut up. Hammering the Natives that are opposed will be next to be marginalized. The “Big Lie” campaigns continue in the compliant medias.

You’re right. Spreading fear and rhetoric will not stop this project.

Don’t you find it strange that the BC Liberals are going to Enbridge begging for answers…instead of Enbridge going to the province with the most up to date information? Kind of makes you wonder who is running this province??

Gave up what safeguards, they just got of a duplication of regulations and bureaucracy.

hammering the natives where did ya see that, maybe they should be reigned in some considering their threats.

Got rid of scientists, again streamlining the bureaucracy.

people will come around when it gets built and the sky doesn’t fall, the ice caps don’t melt and the salmon come back like they always have. The ecoterrorists will move on to other causes and life will go on. For a glimpse at life post-pipeline, you only need to go to Jasper. Moose Lake is beautiful as ever even with a bitumen pipeline along its shores. The pipeline right-of-way is a meadow seeded with native grasses and wildflowers, wildlife loves it.

Sometimes I wonder if these greenie types have considered anti-depressants? fiber? perhaps an iron supplement?

“the sky is falling” “the sky is falling”

Jeeez I”m getting very tired of that rant…

It seems that there are a number of Albertans on the blog today. Well we’ll see how the NDP answer to the Enbridge plight.

I suspect the Provincial NDP won’t have much to say about the Federal pipeline.

Provincial sovereignty sure is cheep for the likes of Johnny.

I suspect once the ndp forms a government after May they will pull out of the national environmental review process and start their own. A process Enbridge is not equipped to litigate considering their evasion and cryptic reasoning to date in the national process. An approach they will not be allowed to take in a provincial process.

Hey JohhyB look up the Columbia river treaty. BC has more power than you think!

More simply….if the NDP get into government there will be no need to worry about environmental reviews…the NDP will shut down every single oil and mining project in the province. No one will want to waste one cent trying to get past the dippers and their enviro-freaks support team.

“the sky is falling”

That is what they did the last time. What do you expect with a fraud like Dix at the lead. I would have supported them if they had put someone else in the leader position.
