Since Council pulled some money from the Police budget, money which normally would end up in surplus, five projects have been added to the list.

The projects that are marked with an asterisk are projects that were added after Council peeled back money from the annual reserve from the Police budget.
In all, the City will spend $5.2 million dollars on road rehabilitation projects this year.
The pothole repairs are well underway with three shifts trying to keep up with the demand. If you note a pothole that needs repair, the City wants to hear about it. Contact the Service desk at 250-561-7600.

Please tell me when they say rehabilitate West Austin that will mean fix the joke of a sidewalk as well. As it is now, it is not even a proper cement walk. They just went and put some pavement over the dirt. Ever winter the grader rips pieces of it off during snow removal and the summer repair is pieced together. In places there is not even a curb to separate the sidewalk from the road, leaving the water to run across the road with no real direction??
This sidewalk is under heavy usage daily from people headed down to the hart mall and kids headed up Kelly to school.
Would be a major shame if they tried to redo the road base without creating a proper curb/sidewalk to join up to.
Maybe someone from the city works/planning has already looked at it and agree??
Croft Road. It is unbelievable.
Wasn’t university way repaved a few years ago?
I didn’t think University Way is in that bad of shape. Aren’t there worse roads in town?
University Way is one season away from being added to the list of mandatory repairs. The city has done due dilligence to repair this before it becomes a more costly repair.
Some clarification is required.
The diagram above shows red lines as resurfacing projects.
University Way is schedules to be ‘Rehabilitated” but #5 – Foothills Blvd is schedules for an ‘Overlay’
Resurfacing and Overlay are the same thing. What does Rehabilitate mean.
Does this mean it will be milled out first and then resurfaced? (‘mill & fill).
City personnel – can you clarify please.
Hmmm…nothing for Haldi Road area.I thought the roads were in bad shape out there??
There are some excellent choices on this list.
Rehabilitate.. hmm
Yes the roads are bad.. but talking to them wont make them better :)
Scrape up three inches of roadway, mix with used motor oil, re-apply. Job done.
Austin Road? Big freaking deal! Just another patch job! With the exception of the short section in front of the Fire Hall and the old Austin Road Elementary School, Austin Road West needs to be completely rebuilt. What a mess!
I thought that this road was supposed to be widened to 4 lanes a LONG time ago. There is lots of traffic on this road, including garbage trucks heading for the landfill. Traffic is often lined up at the stop signs at North Kelly Road and Austin, especially when work or school ends. Thankfully hardly anyone stops at the stops signs so traffic does move a bit faster (just kidding, please STOP)!!
I don’t see Milwaukee Way on the list.
They should just pull up the pavement there and grade the gravel once in a while, it could not be worse than it is now.
metalman.
How can Penn road and Boundary road not be on the list. Its not even passable by a small car now. Seen a city crew there last night and they only half filled in a couple of pot holes and left the rest… a complete joke of a fix for a six man crew… might last a day with 60-ton traffic.
The condition of the busiest industrial road in the north would not be accepted in any other city for a side road. Its been years now… there should be some accountability at city hall.
“there should be some accountability at city hall.” Why?
Kind of way out there in extreme thinking, isn’t it?
They have not shown the new section of Boundary road on the map yet. That will be a large paving job. Perhaps the increase in all the paving this year will bring the unit prices down by 15% …. :-)
