Cluculz Lake Residents Press On
Tuesday, March 26, 2013 @ 4:17 PM
Cluculz Lake, B.C.- The residents of Area “F” will proceed with their appeal of the referendum that cleared the way for them to contribute to the operating costs of a multi-million dollar swimming pool in Vanderhoof.
The residents had filed an appeal with the court within the deadline, but didn’t know until this afternoon if they would be able to proceed because of the funds necessary to cover the court costs.
It would appear they have the necessary funds as the response from the appeal organizers this afternoon is “ We cannot offer any further comment as the matter is before the courts”.
Randy Holubosh and Dick Martin are two of the four Cluculz Lake residents named on the court petition against the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako, which was filed on March 15th. A hearing on the matter must be held on, or before, April 4th.
More than 200 property owners voted in favour of going to court to appeal the referendum result which would have each property owner responsible for paying $1.00 for every $1,000 of assessment. For one of the people named on the legal action, that would amount to $200 to $300 every year for the next 30 years.
The appeal focuses on a number of issues including cases of people being denied the right to vote, and the option of mail in ballots not being offered to property owners who live in the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island.
Comments
Good for the residents of Cluculz Lake. This is the only way to fight Government that refuses to listen to their residents, or be reasonable.
We need to be prepared to do the same thing as Haldi Road, when it comes to the Pine Valley Par 3 Golf Course.
Nothing short of aggressive action against bull headed Civil servants, or politicians, will make any headway.
Lose $40 grand to the lawyers and lose the appeal, what a bunch of losers.
Randy1955: Your comments are neither helpful or nice. Someday you may be in their position.
Randy1955. If they waited for support from you they would never get off the couch.
So why didn’t they organize and vote?
My money is on Randy Holubosh and Dick Martin!

Do the Cluculz Lake residents pay taxes for the PG Pool?
If not, I would be surprised if it has not been utilized by many – with no revolt over no paying taxes for it.
I know people are entitled to their own opinion but I get a bit tired of people who don’t know the whole story.
Cluculz Lake does not object to there being pool for Vanderhoof Fraser Lake and Ft.St. James but why should the seasonal property owners be the tax base for this and not the full time residents of Ft.St. James and Fraser Lke. When their mayors (FL and FSJ) were asked if they wanted to vote and become part of the tax base to pay for the pool they said “No thank you”. So Jerry Pettersen Area F Electoral directer and on th Pool Committee offered up Area F to help pay…..this is the 3rd time the pool has been voted on. If u keep manipulating the vote eventually you get what you want.
The way the referendum was run was basically the icing on the cake….Good Luck Cluculz Lake!
Do the Cluculz Lake residents pay taxes for the PG Pool?
=============================================
As most of the properties at Cluculz are seasonal and many are owned by Prince George property owners, it is fair to assume that many Cluculz owners do pay PG taxes and some may even use the PG pools.
Perhaps the negative posters here would like to “donate” to the Vanderhoof pool fund .. involuntarily of course ;-)
Palopu, you must be under the miss conception that I support the Cluculz group. There was a vote and they lost, get over it. The complaining should have been done prior to the vote not after. How does anything get done if after every vote a special interest group challenges it in court. I disagree with 90% of what the council in PG does but I have to live with it until the next election. If the same group of donkey’s get re-elected I can’t challenge it in court, I have to continue to live with the new band of clowns.
Issues: “why should the seasonal property owners be the tax base for this and not the full time residents of Ft.St. James and Fraser Lke.”
Far be it from me to criticise those who are fortunate enough to have a seasonal residence, but why did they wait until after the vote to make their feelings known?

They did express their feelings. Would there be a point to court action if the vote had of been no johnnybelt? The point is the public has lost all confidence in the government system as its corrupt. It’s evident at all levels of government and more so in local Prince George politics and getting worse.

If they did let their feelings be known before the referendum, they did it quietly as this didn’t become a story until after the vote.
What I know is, it’s easy to blame ‘the government’ when things don’t go your way. Seasonal Cluculz residents are not alone in this regard.
JB and Randy, the main point is that there was no “before the vote”. It was rammed through before many even knew it was happeining. When they did many were disinfranchised by the process. Look at the process. It was done in the middle of winter when no one was around. Bobtail couldn’t mail in ballots. Joint properties required the co-owners to consent which required a further form to be sent out on request. It was fixed. period. Randy, your an idiot. Not sure what your interst is in this but it clearly isn’t about fairness.

Yes it is typical of anyone running for office to depend on people exactly like you with your attitude Johnnybelt .
Who should we blame when things are done incorrectly? Accountability should fall in the lap of elected officials at all times.
I hope to see the public drag them to court every time they do unethical dealings.
FYI politicians do have access to the community charter.
Its not about losing a vote. Its the way the vote was conducted. The majority of the Cluculz residents were not allowed to vote but are expected to pay the taxes.
Johnnybelt..to tell you the truth we did send many emails and tried to get hold of Jerry Petersen before referendum day but he did not edspknd to a single email. Residents of Bobtail Lake asked about mail in ballots but were told they were not available for them. The pronlem was that it was all individuals reaching out and we did not realize collectively as a group what was all going on until after. Yes hindsight is great and yes in a perfect world we should have raised more concerns before the third go around for a “yes” vote was cast but the majority of questions were met with deaf ears and the extent of it was not realized until after.
Respond..sorry
