Another Dust Advisory
Prince George, B.C.- Another Dust Advisory is in effect for Prince George, once again, road dust in the bowl area of the city is the major culprit with coarse particulate exceeding the 24 hour rolling average target. The target for coarse particulate (PM10) is 50 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM10 rolling average was 57 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown,20 µg/m3 at College Heights and 36 µg/m3 at BCR at 9 this morning.
The provincial air quality objective for fine particles (PM2.5) is 25 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 8 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site and 7 µg/m3 at College Heights at 9 this morning.
Light winds and dry conditions overnight as well as clear skies contributed to dust accumulating in the air shed. Air quality is expected to be better at higher elevations.

Maybe it’s time to stop using so much dirt on the roads in the winter?
Maybe start cleaning earlier rather?
Or both.
I’d vote both as well.
The problem is not with using too much dirt in the winter. It’s that they don’t start cleaning the streets until May when all of the snow is gone, and then they don’t clean the streets again.
They use to have good street cleaning in this city, when I was a child. Now it sucks. Even when they clean the streets, they leave a lot of dirt behind.
Kudos to the cleaning crews for cleaning Victoria Street last night.
Well this winter was not much of one. Myself if I would get out there even if it would snow again. That’s what I would do too.
Nobody can drive in this town. I see people driving on the shoulders all over the place kicking up a big dust cloud behind them.
They know not what they do. (The Bible)
Cheers
What I really want to know is…when I come off the Airport hill, and my sinuses and lungs have to breathe all that @#%*, who is going to pay for all the inhalers that I alone take, let alone anyone else that has asthma, broncial and sinus problems? And all most people talk about is “Quit Smoking”
@PG Girl, Maybe try and flag the people down who can’t resist driving on the shoulders and see if they’ll kick in some money for you.
How about just deal with it
Here is a plan. Sweep the damn steets. Start with forcing Pince Centre and Parkwood to sweep their lots. They both look like Pig Pen from Charlie Brown. The whole area around both Malls are giant dust clouds. This ain’t rocket surgery folks
Exactly, Vikingnuck…Walmart is no better! Get those sweepers moving…air quality will get better.
