Valemount, B.C.- The Cranberry Marsh/Starratt area south of Valemount is now, officially the Cranberry Marsh/Starratt Wildlife Management Area.
The new designation follows the consolidation of privately owned land, properties owned by Nature Trust of BC and Crown land.
Cranberry Marsh is a provincially important waterfowl nesting and resting area. The area also includes a black spruce bog that is habitat for moose, deer beaver and other wildlife.
The area already has trails and viewing towers. Ducks Unlimited maintains a wetland enhancement project in the marsh which includes dykes, nesting islands and water control structures

Not quite sure what a deer beaver is. Possibly a beaver that has antlers?
I won’t go there. Easy as it is.
Wish we had a “like” pick for Harb’s comment. Aaa ah the deer beaver.
