BC Gears Up For Return Of The PST

Saturday, March 30, 2013 @ 5:12 AM
Victoria, B.C. – With the reintroduction of the Provincial Sales Tax this Monday, April 1, 2013, the provincial government is keeping the phone lines open to businesses as they make the transition to the two-tax PST and GST system.

The general business PST enquiry lines will be open during the Easter weekend, Saturday  through Monday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  The online eTaxBC PST registration tool at – www.gov.bc.ca/eTaxBC/register – lets businesses register online from anywhere at any time.

A new outreach program is being developed that will allow a business to have a ministry PST specialist do a general review of their accounts and systems to ensure they are set up properly to collect, report, remit and pay the PST.  More information on this program will be available soon at: www.gov.bc.ca/pstoutreach

As committed, the PST is being re-implemented with all permanent exemptions. Consumers will again not pay PST on purchases like food, restaurant meals, bicycles, gym memberships, movie tickets, and others, nor for personal services like haircuts.

Comments

As per usual the Lie-berals have continued their lies and not returned to the same tax as previous on private sale of used cars. The new provincial transfer tax will remain at 12% rather than revert to previous PST of 7%. Wonder if a court case is in the offing based on the what the public was told by the liberals before the referendum that if past all items taxed would revert to the old tax levels.
Can’t wait to see these people gone forever.

Me too!!

With the B.C.Liberals,nothing is ever quite as they would like us to think it is.
There is always something hiding in the background, usually to their own benefit or the beneifit of their “friends”.
No reason the return of the HST will be any different.
Even as they are filing out the back door for the very last time as a political party in B.C.,they still won’t get it.

Where can a person obtain a list of all products and services that should return to the tax charged before the HST? Judging by past performance I wouldn’t be surprised if some businesses don’t revert to the former system. I will not be shopping at any business that tries this stunt and will do my best to publicize the fact. Call me skeptical.

Thank you to all that voted the PST back in. Not the smartest voting ever done.

Well,if it was not the smartest thing we have ever done…it is indeed one of the dumbest things the B.C.Liberals have ever done!
The message to them is clear…DO NOT LIE TO US..EVER!
Now they will see what happens when they do!
It is long past the time when we stopped allowing those we elect to abuse our trust.

Getting rid of the HST was the smartest thing ever done in the Province of BC. It basically killed off a regressive tax, and sent a strong message to the Government to back off.

Had the HST stayed, it would only be a matter of time before they it got up to 18 to 25% like they have in Europe. (We know what kind of shape Europe is in)

Big business and corporations now will be required to pay the tax they managed to evade for the past few years.

The President of the BC Chamber of Commerce is complaining the tax on business and corporations will increase by $1.5 billion per year with the elimination of the HST. However as usual they like to color their comments. What is actually happening is that they will go back to paying the tax that they used to pay, and we the consumers will no longer be paying this tax for them.

Nothing but good and positive things come from putting this tax back where it belongs.

Effective Monday I will no longer have to pay taxes for Canfor, West Fraser, Weyerhauser, Rio Tinto Alcan, all the other lumber, pulp and paper, and mining, companies, that operate in BC.

Contrary to popular opinion there will be no negative effect from getting rid of this tax.

All the smart companies bought their new equipment etc; this year, to beat the tax.

BC consumers basically gave business and corporations a $7 Billion dollar tax break for the past two and one half years. Plus the Government picked up a least $1 billion in loose change.

I don’t recall any of the recipients of this tax break saying thank you, however that’s what you would expect, when your dealing with people who have the entitlement mentality.

jonnypg, you forgot chiropractors, physiotherapists, naturopaths, lawyers…..

Thanks a bunch jonnypg. I did indeed cut and paste your list.

Most of the stuff johnnypg lists are not essential items, and many are luxury items. People talk about taxing those who are more well off, and the HST would have done that.

Now, we go back to paying PST/GST on thousands of items at 12% when it would have been 10% HST by now.

Too bad many got suckered by Bill VanderZalm. Again.

” When it would have been 10% HST by now”

JB, you BS your friends and I’ll BS mine, but lets not BS each other.

That was the deal, mf. The Liberals were going to drop the HST down to 10%, had BC Voters decided to keep it. If you have any proof that this wasn’t the case, I’d like to see it.

Try this experiment. After April 1st, take all of your receipts, look at the ones that charge PST/GST at 12%, then say to yourself, ‘this would have been 10%’. See how much that adds up to in a year and see if your life is much cheaper without the HST.

Yup, and LNG is the wave of the future and the WIDC is all on the up and up. Don’t get me wrong, its not like the NDP never lied to us, its just that the BC Libs have had a lot more opportunity to do it.

You are right JohnnyB, 99% of that list are luxury items. I rarely use any of that stuff so come April 1st it won’t matter much to me. The folks who can afford those things should be paying the user tax. Once again the 1% pay even less!

Thank you to all that voted the PST back in. Not the smartest voting ever done.

Thanks also to Bill VZ and all the canvassers that made this happen. This is the best thing that could happen for taxpayers of BC. Mostly because these corporations are going to be paying what they owe now. And taxpayers will NOT be paying for them. And it’s also going to be greater in 6 weeks when the LIE-berals are finally removed. It is unbelievable they could do so many things to the taxpayers here and get away with it. Hopefully a movement can be started to frce the NDP to hold these greedy parasites accountable for bleeding taxpayers the way they have for the last decade. The outright lies and corruption and utter lack of any human dignity or compassion is about to be extinguished for good. People hae to now shut down the MSM in BC. They are the ones that let these LIARS screw people for this long. The vancouver sun all these corporate pig news outlets should be boycotted until they can be made to go broke. It is time for taxpayers to stand up to these parasites and force them into submission. If enough taxpayers would have the gumption and willingness to do it then it is possible. There are so many things people could do to shut these parasites down. Let us hope that after HST is finally EXTINGUISHED we can do more just like the referendum that we could never win. LOL LOL LOL LOL We did win. THANK YOU BILL VANDERZALM AND EVERY ONE OF THE CANVASSERS.

There is no point in arguing with those who support this tax. They are incapable of seeing the forest for the trees.

Haircuts, veterinary sevices, meals in restaurants, accounting services, etc; now become **luxury items**

Maybe those who support the HST can explain to the rest of us why all the items listed above were exempted from the PST in the first place.

Who made them exempt, and who kept them exempt over all these years. Duhhhhhhh. The Government, and one would assume they had good reason to exempt them.

So the jig is up. The game is over. Anti HST wins. Pro HST loses.

But there is no winner Palopu except the rich! In the end income taxes will go up the the rich will continue not to pay their share.

A pet is a luxury item.
Meals in restaurants, luxury item!
If you can’t figure out your own taxes then yes an accountant is a luxury item.
If you are getting your haircut once a week then it’s a luxury item.
Golf
Air travel

You don’t need any of the above to live.

Report found HST costing families

The announcement comes less than one month before the ballots for the HST referendum are mailed out to B.C. voters on June 13. All ballots must be received by July 22 to be counted.
The move also comes after an independent report found the HST had increased the tax burden on the average family by $350 a year, although low income families are actually paying less.

The report also found that the HST has shifted a greater share of taxes from business to individuals and families and that the government was taking in more than $820 million a year in revenue than it would have under the older PST/GST.

B.C. promises HST cut to 10% by 2014

CBC

Big problem with that 10% by 2014. If people were dumb enough to vote for this return, they are dumb enough to put the NDP back in the legislature. That can only increase taxes and increase social spending, while stopping all mining and exploration, making more parks, building new ferries, etc. We will be a “have not” province again. If the liberals stay, same tax increases with more lies. Vote for anyone else please.

Hey I remember that story. It was just after the referendum (which we won). Looks like JB is lying. (again)

So tell us johnnybelt how can you say that when it was clear to every taxpayer from that CBC article the 10% deal was to begin after 2014. After the LIE-berals got re-elected? LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL. Tell us how would it be 10% RIGHT NOW when it is still 2013? You and your ilk are just sickening.

Waiting……waiting…..waiting… Answer the question johnnybelt.

Mattyc….you mean all of those corporate pigs who provide thousands of good paying jobs for workers in BC……

You mean all of those corporate pigs that we rely on to keep our enomomy going……

You mean all of those corporate pigs who donate millions of daolars every year to0 worthwile charities that hep people in need……

Corporate pigs?????

Give me a break….I think you have been reading the thoughts of Karl Marx just a little too much….or did you pick all that crap up at your regular NDP meetings…

A few spelling slips…but I hope you got the message Mattyc…

I did. Now I have a question for you. Explain to me why you think its ok for me (average taxpayer/citizen) to have to pay 100% of your tax bill (corporation/business)? Will you please answer that for us. When the HST was rammed into BC that was what happened. We the taxpayer got to pay 100%. How is that justifyable? Did you really think it could be done without any fighting back? Well buddy we did fight back and won. Monday we get relief finally and corporations will be paying hopefully their traditional 40%. Don’t be like JB and snooki and just ignore the question. That’s ow they do it. A valid question os asked they ignore it or deflect it. Please tell us the answer.

A few spelling slips…but I hope you got the message gimmeabreak

How can you call yourself an average taxpayer and citizen? The average taxpayer actually pays taxes..an average citizen doesn’t drive to Alberta for a cheeseburger…the average citizen does not advocate for the vandalism of parking meters. There is nothing average about you matty

Why don’t you answer the questions then bonneville? You are the same ilk as JB. In other words a sore looser that now has to pay tax again after a 4 year hiatus. I bet you were one of the ones that said we can not win the referendum. LOL LOL Well guess what. Soon the voters are going to remove ALL traces of campbell from office. Hopefully the people will rally the NDP to hold a judicial inquiry and hold these LIE-berals to account for what they did to the taxpayers of BC. Namely the selling of OUR railway. And then the lying and ramming into BC of this HST. You better have your cash register re-programmed by monday bonneville. If you try making me pay HST after monday I or some other taxpayer may sue you in court. It is illegal to charge HST in BC on any of the items on the list posted today by Ben. I hope you enjoy what WE THE TAXPAYERS did by holding the referendum. Thanks so much to Bill and to all the canvassers who made the HST EXTINGUISHED real. Just enjoy your last days with snooki running the show. Real soon we will see her and ALL the campbell bum kissers REMOVED. Now will one of you answer my questions please.

I watched the latest attack ad today by the B.C.Liberal/Concerned Citizen fan club.
Of course the B.C.Liberals say they have nothing to do with those ads.
More lies.
Jim Sheppard and his gang of corporate nasties think Christy Clark has all the right stuff!
Maybe she does,if you are looking to control a political puppet who will perform unspeakable acts for a campain donation!
Other than that…she has nothing.
What bothered me the most about the ad is that they even put Glen Clark’s name in there.
That’s low…B.C.Liberal low.
How long has he been out of politics?
And was he not cleared of all wrong doing after being set up by Campbell and his thugs, who even called the media to film the raid on his house?
They didn’t even care if they embarrassed Clarks family!
That’s low…very low,and so are these ads.
It is one thing to go after Dix,even though they have to repeat the same thing…forged a document.
They repeat it over and over because have nothing else.
They do not say he admitted it,and was fired.
The B.C.Liberal dirtballs who have ended up in the chit admit to nothing …ever.
They just keep lying.
The B.C.Liberals are not even smart enough to know that they ony hurting themselves and driving away even more votes.
May 15 will be a great day for B.C.taxpayers.
I have never voted NP in my life…always voted B.C.Liberal until I figured out what they were really all about.
Never again will they abuse my vote or lie to me.

Doesnt matter what kind of tax you pay. All that matters is taxes are putting people like mattyc behind padded walls.

Hey Andy you see these dirtbags refuse to answer my simple questions? Useless right wing corporate pigs. You are absolutely right. Bang on. Don’t worry May 15 every one of these LIE-berals will be removed. And this time around we the taxpayers will be waiting for the next thing to happen like campbells clark set up. Everyone knows clark did nothing to deserve that. Everyone should stop paying these MSM that are enabling things like this to happen. If we all canceled our tvs and cable and satalites and stopped buying their newspapers for just a few weeks we could make them go broke. That’s what needs to happen after may 15. Everone start boycotting all corporate entities. MSM especially. Would be great to make them loose money. If we all did that it would not take long to EXTINGUISH all of them too.

I love watching the confessed tax cheat get worked up into a lather.

I’m not sure why the moderators of this site haven’t dropped the banhammer on him yet. That’s the real mystery.

Are all anti-HST’ers like mattyc? It says a lot about voter mentality if that’s the case.

Hey johnnybelt how bout explaining to everyone here how we would be at a 10% HST RIGHT NOW today had the referendum went your way. Ther deal was the HST would be lowered to 10% sometime in 2014. That would be after the LIE-berals were re-elected. How come you been telling everyone that it would be 10% RIGHT NOW when it is still only 2013? It doesn’t add up JB. Just like all the other lies we hear daily from the party. I re-call that being the deal before the referendum. Vote NO and keep the HST. Vote yes and EXTINGUISH the HST. Well your trick question did not work. And the stickman adds also FAILED. Par for the course for your ilk JB. Can’t wait till may 14. Will be one big celebration when the LIE-berals are removed. So how bout it JB. Please explain yourself to everyone before your credibity goes even further down the toilet.

Mattyc…What a piece of work you are. Your rants remind me of the NDP “rent a crowds” that exist in this life to bitch abou having to work for a living…so they don’t work and bitch endlessly. Thankfully your thinking is in the minority and someone who wants to work hard and honestly and get ahead can…while bitchers like you spend your days whining about democracy being unfair.

And what right do you have bitching about taxes….you tell us that you are a tax cheat…in my opinion that gives you no rights to complain. I hope you wake up some morning and find RevenueCanada sitting at the end of your bed with a tax warrant in their hands..just reward i reckon.

rights

Dream on HST lover gimmeabreak. Get that cash register ready to pay your PST by midnight TONIGHT. I have the right to complain about the HST. It is I believe called the recall and inititave act. Made by NDP of course. And the taxpayers of BC decided to fight back this time. ANd I bet you are another one of the rich that said it could not be won. I already did my 2012 taxes and this year I had to pay 365.22 after my assesment. I have no problem with that. I do have a problem with HST. The people, the majority voted for no HST. 2 different times. First in the may 2009 election. gordon said before that election the no HST was on the radar. Do you re-call that fact gimmeabreak? So the majority voted for gordon. Just after that election gordon decided now taxpayers will have HST so that all his rich corporate friends will pay nothing and taxpayers pay 100%. Correct me if I am wrong. The taxpayers were very lucky to have a guy like Bill organise the referendum. In that referendm the majority again voted for NO HST (yes). So who are you to tell me I have no right to complain? You are the minority this time pal and you better get used to paying PST. WE THE TAXPAYERS voted for that 2 times. You are nothing but a bully and call me names all you want but I aint paying HST anymore. I spent countless hours as did all the other volunteers to EXTINGUISH the HST. It was much work and expense to go to that many doors. I collected thousands of signatures personally. We won and you lost. Suck it up and pay your PST share. And quit bullying me.

Matty…you have been calling people dirt bags and corporate pigs on this site all day and here you are complaining about name calling? What s joke you are with your crazy ranting, tax evasion, etc. yes we will all be paying pst on Monday, I’m just surprised you aren’t bitching about that and expecting some corperation to pay that for you as well, considering your history of tax evasion. You paid 365in tax? I assume you declared all your income? You really make me sick, most of us are honest and pay our fair share while you consider yourself a hero for avoiding your responsibility, yet I assume you take advantage of the govt services that honest taxpayers pay for. Lowest of the low battyc.

I stopped reading matty’s posts a long time ago. They’re all the same.

Is it just me or do I get dizzy trying to read matty’s posts. I can almost see the spit flying off the screen.

When the blood vessel bursts in his brain I hope he doesnt expect a hospital to help him.

Mattyc’s mom showed him how to copy/paste. And now you know the rest of the story.
