Faculty Agreements Ratified For NWCC And Northern Lights

Saturday, April 6, 2013 @ 6:55 AM

Prince George, BC – New faculty contracts have been ratified for Northwest Community College and Northern Lights College…

Following local ratification by union members and the college boards, the Post-Secondary Employers’ Association has provided the final sign-off on two-year agreements for the colleges that will provide for modest wage increases funded from savings within existing budgets.

PSEA has also finalized agreements with Okanagan College and Vancouver Island University under the provincial government’s 2012 Cooperative Gains Mandate.  The deals cover approximately 1100 faculty at the four institutions.

"Almost three-quarters of unionized employees in BC’s public sector are now covered under negotiated settlements, despite the tough fiscal environment," says BC’s Finance Minister, Mike de Jong.  "I encourage employers and unions across the public sector to continue negotiating because agreements can be reached."

The 2012 Cooperative Gains Mandate applies to all public sector employers whose collective agreements expired on or after December 31st, 2011.

I think that if one is not in the post secondaary teaching business and had some knowledge of what these agreements mean, this kind of information is useless.

Tell the folks what the bottom and top steps are for the faculty in UT, Diploma and Certificate programs, trades, etc. and what their student loads as well as weeks per year are, then the general public will get a better idea of the kind of salaries we are talking about.

Hey, the signed an agreement …. yawn ….

As far as Darwin’s last name goes, you seem to be one sick puppy, univ.

You really do not get around very much do you? A coxswain is the steering person of a crewed rowboat, such as the ones in the Olympics and traditional British and eastern USA universities.

“gus, you have a talent in “cooking up” b.b.b stories whenever you please”

Thank you. Few truly appreciate that talent.

“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints”

Is that like Scientology without the celebrities ?

“WHAT was said?” not “WHO said what?”

It is the “M” church US presidential candidate Mitt Romney belongs to.

sigh….I really gotta stop throwing my fastball so high……

Ya… They believe in some guy named smith found some gold plates that no one but he could translate. Sounds like Scientology to me…. But then again Scientology makes more sense than that.

But doesn’t that contract expire at the end if the month like all the rest?
