PG Fire Rescue’s 2nd Annual Rooftop Campout raising funds for Muscular Dystrophy

Prince George, BC – It’s been a chilly night for five hearty souls from Prince George Fire Rescue who remain camped out atop Canadian Tire, and there is snow in the forecast, but they’re hoping their efforts will rewarded…

The five are hoping to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy through their weekend Rooftop Campout campaign.  They made their ascent during a noon-hour kick-off yesterday, that saw Premier Christy Clark make a personal donation of $100 towards the cause. (click photo for video clip)

"It’s cold out here, but it makes my heart warm," Susan Andrist told the crowd.  The local representative for the Northern BC Chapter of Muscular Dystrophy Canada said the funds raised will go towards much-needed equipment for members in the region and towards research.

"Wheelchairs like Darren’s that was here – they cost over $30-thousand dollars.  My walker’s $500, my braces are over $2,000 dollars," she said.  "The equipment costs for us are huge and the research is always ongoing and we need your support and I can see by today we definitely have your support."  (photo at left shows Rod Louet (l) and Ian Provan presenting Andrist with a campout jacket)

"It only takes one muscle to make a difference and that’s your heart."

Donations are being accepted at Canadian Tire through the weekend and Scotiabank is hosting a BBQ between noon and 2pm today.

I am planning a garage sale wonder if Christy would attend?
Cheers

Better be sales tax (whatever it is today) on yer items being sold. Christy will then take the dough to Victoria. Why not ask? All she could do is say no. Then again she might ask ya to vote for her gang. And I mean “gang”.

Congrats PG Fire Rescue, way to do something supportive for the community. Unlike some people around here who never leave their basement and just look for any chance to type on their keyboard (most common is humourless political “jokes” that have absolutely no relevence to the article).
