Quesnel’s Heritage Efforts Receive $105K Boost

As part of funding announced yesterday, Alex Fraser Park will receive $75-thousand dollars for snow stops on the roof of the Agriplex and for construction of a roof over the major compost area. This summer’s 40th Annual Billy Barker Days celebrations will be buoyed by $25-thousand dollars. And another $5-thousand dollars will be used to preserve archives at the Quesnel and District Museum.
"As one of the Central Interior’s oldest cities, Quesnel has much to offer," said Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training, Pat Bell, in making the announcement on behalf of his government. "BC’s agricultural tradition deserves to be respected and preserved. Quesnel is using the funding to help preserve the community’s unique history and to build a bright future."
Quesnel Mayor, Mary Sjostrom, said, "This contribution is significant in that the funds will assist in the safety and longevity of existing assets, historic preservation and the celebration of events and Quesnel is grateful to be recognized."
