MEND Unhealthy Habits
Prince George, BC – The YMCA of Northern BC is offering a free 10-week program to families with children who are above a healthy weight…
With one in four children now considered overweight or obese, the MEND program – Mind, Excercise, Nutrition…Do It! program – was developed in the United Kingdom and participants have been shown to experience long-term health benefits, including weight loss, improvements in fitness levels and higher self-esteem.
The session is open to families with children between the ages of 7 to 13 years and will run at the Y’s Highland Family Development Centre from April 20th until June 15th. "We are thrilled to be delivering MEND in Prince George," says the YMCA’s Tara Legault. "The interactive environment builds enthusiasm and encourages participation from the entire family."
Legault says, "By the end of the ten weeks, parents and children will see how positive changes in food choices and activity levels can build confidence and health."
For more information about the program, call Legault at 250-562-9309 (ext 210).

I bet mom and dad should mend too! Lead by example people!!!
Hopefully the good eating habits and healthy lifestyle practices learned during the 10 week session will continue at home and throughout life. I have had a couple of fantastic teachers and adult mentors to whom I am grateful for instilling many positive and and healthy changes in my life when I was a teen. Good for the YMCA for offering this free program to youth in need.
