Prince George, B.C. – Northern Health says 54 community partners across Northern BC have been awarded 2013 IMAGINE grants totaling $174,000.

The funds will be used to help improve the health and wellbeing of those living, working, learning and playing in their respective communities. Grants are going out to 27 groups in Prince George, 7 in Quesnel, 4 in both Fort St, James and Vanderhoof and 3 in Burns Lake, as well as groups in other locations.

Grants from NH’s Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL) program, HEART Health, Health Weight & Obesity Prevention (HEAL for your HEART) program, Injury Prevention, RoadHealth, Tobacco Free Communities and HIV Prevention provide financial support for the work of community organizations to promote healthy citizens and healthy communities.

“We’re always looking for innovative approaches to encouraging healthier communities,” said Lucy Beck, NH’s regional director, public health – population and protection. “Each of our IMAGINE grant recipients is a partner in improving the health and well-being of people in Northern BC.”
