IIO Decision On Matters Death Could Come Soon

Prince George, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office may soon release it’s final say on the death of Greg Matters.
The office itself will not confirm a release date for a final determination on this case, only saying they do keep in contact with the Matters family and that a news release regarding the status of the investigation will be released “as soon as possible”.
The 4th Air Defence Regiment veteran was suffering from Post Traumatic Stress disorder, brought on by his seven months of peace keeping duties in Bosnia. In September of 2012, there was a stand off with Prince George RCMP on a rural property east of P.G. and Matters was shot to death.
His death would be the first investigation for the IIO as the Independent Investigations Office had opened it’s doors just hours earlier .
Members of Greg Matters family have been advised by Veterans Affairs, they will receive the Memorial Cross, a medal awarded to a family member “as a memento of personal loss and sacrifice in respect of the death of a member or former member”.

It will be interesting to see the official version of Mr. Matter’s death; i.e. why the policeman had to kill him.
Trying not to judge the actions of the cops based on media accounts of the incident, but it is difficult to remain unbiased.
metalman.
Wait a second, I thought people wanted an IIO because they didn’t want police investigating themselves. Now I hear that people don’t trust the IIO. I didn’t see that coming at all. ;-)

I still think they are bought and paid for by the BCCLA”
If they are, how is that a bad thing?
The BCCLA looks after us. Don’t you like those that look after others?
