Mother Pleas for Info to Solve Daughter’s Murder

Wednesday, April 17, 2013 @ 5:22 PM
Fraser Lake, B.C.- The mother of Destiny Tom, has issued a public plea for information that will help RCMP investigators solve their investigation into the death of the 21 year old.

At a news conference earlier today, Vivian Tom told how Destiny’s badly beaten body had been discovered on the Nautley Reserve on the morning of March 23rd.

“Our lives have forever been changed with the loss of our youngest child” said Vivian, who described Destiny as a beautiful caring and loving person “She was a loving mother to our 3 year old granddaughter, Cassidy. Destiny loved life, loved people & had many family & friends that loved her. Her life was tragically taken far too soon.  Whoever is responsible for Destiny’s death is still out there.  My husband, children & especially our 3 year granddaughter deserve closure to this horrific nightmare. We are not sleeping & we are having difficulty eating.”

Vivian Tom called on those who have information, to come forward “ We believe that someone out there knows something & has yet to come forward with information surrounding Destiny’s death. Please – if you have any information that will help with the investigation, we ask you to help us. Please come forward with the truth.”
An autopsy was conducted earlier this month and the report confirmed that Destiny Tom died as result of foul play. Police are unable to provide further specifics with respect to the findings as this would jeopardize the integrity of the investigation. Investigators continue to follow up on information and speak with individuals.

“This investigation remains a priority for the RCMP and we encourage those who knew Destiny and were last with her on the Nautley Reserve, to come forward and speak with investigators” stated Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Fraser Lake RCMP at (250) 699-7777. If you would like to remain anonymous please Call CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

I hate that this story has not received that much attention. I just think that if this happened off the reserve and to someone off a different race, it would have received much more attention.

RIP Destiny. I hope your mother and daughter find some peace.

To the family of Destiny Tom, I truly hope and wish for your healing. This was a disgusting attack and I really hope the person or persons understand what conscience is and come forward. Be at peace Destiny.

It seems to me a lot of unsolved random violent murders in the Lakes District the last couple of years.

Is the person responsible for the Vanderhoof guy that was chopped up in the Fort still walking around? How many people were at that party as witnesses and yet none came forward? Someone no one wants to talk about walks around like the law doesn’t apply to them.

I would like to wish the family peace, but I don’t think they will find that. So just a condolence for their lose, and hope they find justice….
