FRIDAY FREE FOR ALL – April 19th, 2013
Friday, April 19, 2013 @ 12:00 AM
This is the wrap of what has been a very busy week. From the launching of the election campaign, the tragedy in Boston, and the bomb threat in Prince George, everyone has been busy.
But today is all about the issues that have struck a chord with you. It is time for the Friday Free for All.
You pick the topic, but obey the rules:
Keep it clean
Keep it legal
No Bullying!
L E T ‘E R R I P !!!!!!
Comments
Have a nice Friday and weekend everybody.
Please watch for motorcycles on the roads when you are turning or changing lanes.
metalman.
One bomber down, one to go. Yippee.
Let`s hope that`s all.
I don’t see the city cleaning these awful dirty street, yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking at these bombers and hearing about their extensive foreign training. My bet is they are mossad for sure. Definitely not of Semitic or Arab origin.
I had figured it initially to be the work of Syria’s Assad, but things can always be made to look that way. Sounds like they were possibly students at MIT in America for less than a year now.
9000 police searching for them in Watertown tonight… suns coming up so hopefully they can get the live runner alive so the Boston authorities can get more answers. Conveniently the other one died shortly after arriving at Beth Israel Hospital.
For mossad to attack America at Catholic Boston in a false flag attack on Patriots Day wouldn’t surprise me one bit. It would explain why the explosives were designed to maim and not kill.
Congratulations should go out to Harper & his conservatives! Just when you think they cannot be more despicable; Harpers attack ads hit a new low. Trying to besmirch J.T. for doing a goofy skit to raise monies for the Liver Research people!? I do believe the term is “lower than a snakes belly in a wagon rut”.
Well I see our gas prices are a whole three cents lower than Surrey and Vancouver and now we are over the average by 3 cents p/l.
A week ago the street sweepers went up Ospika to college heights. Later the sidewalk sweeper came and pushed all the gravel back on the road.
Not ver good coordination. Not to smart.
Harper and the Conservatives Government we have in Canada is such an embarrassment.
Canada really has become a joke around the world.
Their actions and comments are inappropriate for anyone to express let alone from our Prime Minister and Government.
What a Shame !
Embarrassing is John Baird overseas representing Canada.
Anyone know what was going on last night around 830 at Jolly Market (or that mechanic place) in Vanway? 2 firetrucks, at least 4 cops that I could see plus I passed at least another 5 cops on their up there.
Don’t know peegee, until we find out I guess we have to blame whatever it was on the Mossad.
Thanks to the city for cleaning the sidewalks and streets in the Millar Addition…great job, especially considering all the dog messes along 17th Avenue! A reminder to dog owners: please clean up after your pet, especially in Fort George Park (even though it’s a no dog park) and along the trail as well.

—————-
Christy Clark was in town; let’s blame her. :)
LOL…..okay, but I think Christy was busy last night stealing NDP campaign signs.
Reports are saying the two Boston bombers are Chechnyan. Go figure.
Anyone notice the mess from all the snow that was dumped in the ditches along the bypass.
I guess tax dollars will be put to work cleaning up what was dumped from the businesses that had a free snow dump for the winter, then took your money in trade and now use your tax dollars to clean up. Seems fair.
They should change the name of this page from “Free-for-All” to
“Useless Complaining for All”.
I agree PGguy. There is far too much negativity on here! How about it if we change the theme to something positive we have seen or done to improve the city, our neighbourhood etc.?
never
please explain which business’s dumped snow in the ditches along the bypass?
That snow was placed there by show plows cleaning streets.
Agreed with 2 comments about complaining. I have basically quit posting because of the negative energy off the Friday Free For All.
I just took my winter tires off. Is there a law for when studded tires have to be off the road? And what’s the date?
Albus If you spent all winter driving down the Bypass you would have seen piles of snow and machines taking the snow from their parking lots and dumping it there. Car lots on one side etc and strip malls on other side. Just open EYES
I guess you figure the dirt piles came from grader but that also is there spread out not in piles down in the middle. Take a look then comment or just keep helping pay with taxes.
If they use it pay for the clean up
Let’s face it, this site would be boring if it was all bouquets and sunshine.
April 30 is the last day studded tires can be on a vehicle, but I think if you’re doing a lot of mountain highway driving they might be a little flexible on that date.
Hummer I think it is April 30 to have studded tires off, unless you are driving in the snow covered ditches in the above posts.
Negativity? Nah! Just some freedom of speech (while we still have it) types making observations that make some touchy feely people uncomfortable. Peter Godfrey told me many years ago that, “…some people feel threatened by other peoples opinions”. As an aside, I sure hope the war on terrorism is just a teeny bit more successful than the present day war on drugs. Carry on.
I think the snow covered ditch complaint is the ditches on Central in front of a couple of car dealerships owned by an investor in the Haldi Road deal. Either that or this person just has an affinity for ditches in and around Prince George.
And I am not a touchy feely type. What bugs me is the same posts about the same complaint every friday. Go back to last weeks, copy it and paste it into this weeks. It’s basically the same thing.
I can be thebiggest dickhead on here if I thought it would mean anything.
I have way less to read on here since the HST was taken off the program.
Elect an NDP government and 3/4 of the people on here will have absolutely nothing to bitch about.
Fire the mayor and council and we will have a black hole where a website used to be.
“I can be thebiggest dickhead on here if I thought it would mean anything. “
I don’t know; I think you’d have some pretty fierce competition for that title… :)
People complaining about people complaining. Too funny!
Harbinger hit the nail on the head. People need a place to vent, to voice their opinions and thoughts. For many people they just do not have the opportunity to do so anywhere else. Many peoples every day lives are ruled by bullies in the workplace or elsewhere.
Stop trying to tell people what to do.
If you don’t like it use you grey matter.
Adrian Dix has announced plans so spend $372M to hire up to 1000 new teachers. In the next breath he should have said about half those hires will be made possible by cancelling the Greater Vancouver area teachers’ massage benefits of $160M. That might get him some votes.
Could you imagine a whole lot of people in your life (wanted or unwanted) not saying to you, “You know what you should do?” Would be a refreshing change.
So, let’s talk about something positive. I just want to say thank you to the gentleman and his female companion who were in the dark coloured jeep ahead of me in the drive-thru line up at Tim’s last week. This couple paid for my coffee before I got to the “window” simply because I had let them into the line up before me. Your kind response is just one of the many reasons why I love P.G.
Thanks again
Elaine Macdonald
Did you pay it forward Elaine and pay for the person behind you?
Hey!! The gas at Superstore is at $129.9; a heads up to all the other stations out there! And all the people needing gas-2 cents is two cents!!
Teachers massage benefits…..which government signed a contract with that clause in it?? And why is this only in the greater Vancouver area?? Paying off the lower mainland teachers were they??
from CBC:
“Silas White, vice chair of the B.C. Public School Employers’ Association, says the extra benefit in Vancouver was negotiated more than a decade ago when there wasn’t province-wide bargaining, and has been grandfathered into the current contract.”
If you had your ear to the door during negotiations with teachers you would think they were all in french immersion as all you hear is “Mimi, Mimi, Mimi” Listen a little closer it is actually Me Me Me Me Me Me :P
kids…… pssst!
Harbinger, Thankyou.
And to all you drivers out there, watch out for kids having fun, they don’t think as fast as your vehicle travels, so please, slow down, the child you avoid might be your own….
Please everyone watch out for kids playing, bicycles and motorbikes on the road. I road my bike from herritage to Vance road and back, had 3 close calls… 2 of which said “I didn’t see you!” Not sure how you dont see a 6ft 230lb guy on a 900lb Harley covered in chrome. Remember us out there on bikes need to obey all the same rules as regular drivers + avoid potholes, road cracks and gravel.
Glad you asked Lonesome…. In fact I did!
Elaine Macdonald
Good on you:)
Habs fan does not understand the concept of decimal points. Must be an accountant for Crusty Clark . He also does not seem to know how health benefits and Pacific Blue cross works.
I really like PG, and overall think things are good in our City. We focus so hard on negatives that they become bigger than they really are. Self titled “pothole capital” is a good example. Yes, we have potholes. Yes, some roads have been horrible and are horrible. But….in perspective they are ‘fine’ for the most part. Our perception is our reality, and if you’re one of the people who’s constantly whining and criticizing, you’d do that no matter where you lived. Same for positive people.
eagle, your anti Isreal buffonery is well known on this site. But you have hit a new level today. Mossad responsible in Boston??
You actually took the time to type that?
Denaljo
Where do you think blue cross comes up with $1.6 million to pay for the massages? The more that is paid out, the higher the rates go…paid for by the employer.
Citizens of Canada and (BC) are being inundated with elections.
We will just get rid of this Provincial Election, and we will be heading into the next Municipal Election (Fall 2014). No sooner do we get rid of the Municipal and we head into the Federal Election .
I am starting to get a headache from all the propaganda, and electioneering,.
We need a break from elections, and politicians filling our minds with endless crap.
Not sure that longer terms would be a solution, however 4 year terms, and having all elections at the same time might give us a three year break from this BS.
On a positive note. **Have a nice day**
I think those who bash other people for what they have bargained for or what their choice of career may be, should have to post what they do for a living and what benefits they receive as part of their employment. But it’s just so easy to attack others in fits of jealousy isn’t it?
One person wrote a script and entered in over 14,000 yes votes to the parking meter poll.
That’s pretty poor.
Until that point, 98% were opposed.
I would venture to guess that I make more than a majority of the brothers and sisters without having to hide behind the skirts of a union. $1.5 million for teacher massages, up 50% in four years but it’s ALL about the kids Yea right. Underworked Overpaid like most civil servants.
Unions may have had some value at one point but now do more harm than good by protecting those that should be fired. I recently read an arbitration case where a union took a case all the way to fight for someone who threatened to bring her husband’s gun (an RCMP member) to work to settle scores. I’ll post the link if I can still have it.
Hey Elaine it was the couple that payed for your coffee that was actually paying it forward. You just started the ball rolling. Good for you.
Unions may have had some value at one point but now do more harm than good by protecting those that should be fired.
===========================================
Is that why it’s taking unions to protect Canadian jobs being handed out to temporary foreign workers in Tumbler Ridge? Unions are sending a message to RBC over out sourcing…what has your harper/liberal government had to say on the issues??
Gas 1.229 yesterday morning in Victoria.
I get it, the closer to a Refinery the higher the price , PG you must be number 1, you are the highest all the Way from Victoria to here (excluding GVRD Transportation TAX) Way to go ,keep it up and see the Results. peoples are leaving this overtaxed Place if they can !
Fiberals will keep the carbon tax for another five years even though there is no empirical science to back it up. One of the founders of the tax Mark Jaccard calls himself a Nobel Laureate when he is no such thing. That alone should make one wonder about the honesty of this C02 carbon tax BS. http://nofrakkingconsensus.com/2013/04/16/mark-jaccard-counterfeit-nobel-laureate/
NDP is going to pick your pockets even more on this ridicules tax.
What is hilarious is both parties are picking your pockets for their friends while promoting resource development which is C02 rich, how insane is that and the media just gives it a pass.
The conservatives make the only sense by saying they will dump this tax which costs us northerners plenty. Also they will go ahead with the pipelines after the proper reviews.
Something not brought up by any party is the 58 billion in contracts Hydro was forced to sign with the IPP’s. Clark was going to look into that but now not a peep as her handlers must have told her to back off as it is making fiberal friends much money.
I and others have brought up the dog shit subject many times well I just walked the trail from Simon Fraser to McGill and it is disgusting. Makes one wonder about the personal hygiene of the folks in Upper College hts.
Groups get together in the spring to pick up the winters garbage, how about dog owners get into groups and pickup their shit.
Had some idiot on a murdercycle pass me going up Peden Hill yesterday like I was standing still. I suppose if he wiped out because of gravel on the road all the bikers would be whining about the condition of the road. Bikers always complaining about cage drivers, what a joke.
Or the fool on his Harley, with a small child on the back, driving on the shoulder of the road and passing vehicles on Peden Hill. Definitely one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.
âWhat I am suggesting is that each of us turn from the negativism that permeates our society and look for the remarkable good among those with whom we associate, that we speak of one anotherâs virtues more than we speak of one anotherâs faults, that optimism replace pessimism, that our faith exceed our fears. When I was a young man and was prone to speak critically, my father would say: âCynics do not contribute, skeptics do not create, doubters do not achieve.â
â Gordon B. Hinckley
“…, that optimism replace pessimism, …”
Apparently having a negative/pessimist outlook is not bad. According to a recent study pessimists live longer!

“One person wrote a script and entered in over 14,000 yes votes to the parking meter poll.
That’s pretty poor.
Until that point, 98% were opposed.”
So you think the 98% was totally legit before then. Um, ok.
“One person wrote a script and entered in over 14,000 yes votes to the parking meter poll.”
You know it was 14000 how?
Remaining Boston bombing suspect surrounded in a boat in someones backyard.
I would like to use the 1.2mil from parking meters for down town, and use it towards filling some potholes. Wow there are some large craters out there.
You know there is something seriously wrong with our so called justice system when a gangster convicted of manslaughter and conspiracy to kill the Bacon brothers will only do just over 4 years in jail because of double credit for time served.

“You know there is something seriously wrong with our so called justice system when a gangster convicted of manslaughter and conspiracy to kill the Bacon brothers will only do just over 4 years in jail because of double credit for time served.”
He has spent the last 4 years in jail already and will be spending 4 more there.
8 years for killing an innocent car stereo installer.
Life is cheap. And getting cheaper.
IMO it, (murder) will eventually come down to just a fine (payable to the Crown) and maybe a spike in your car insurance rates to remind you that what you did was wrong.
Axman, we will be fortunate if he serves one third of the four years, one third off for good behavior, one third off to statutory release.
Somebody, please correct me if I’m wrong.
Hey on a positive note summer starts in 2 months!
You should read the actual story about this case axman then comment. He hasn’t spent the last 4 years in jail already and he is going to jail for two different charges not just for murdering the innocent guy.
I read the story Dragonmaster; perhaps you forgot to read it? He has been in jail for almost 4 years now (since 2009) which is why the 12 year sentence will only be 4 years and a bit. He received credit for almost eight years.
It also clearly states that he was sentenced for both crimes; it doesn’t break it down into individual crimes.
All you CBC, CTV, Global and CNN, viewers should be watching Sun news. I don’t agree with everything they say but they sure cut through the BS.
Eagleone you might learn something.
Sun News=Faux News wannbe.
They are getting so few viewers they are trying to get mandatory carriage from the CRTC to stay afloat.
Jim13135:”Is that why it’s taking unions to protect Canadian jobs being handed out to temporary foreign workers in Tumbler Ridge?”
Could be that those workers don’t need unlimited massages after a hard day of…..wait for it…..talking to kids and maybe even hold their arm up to a blackboard while holding a piece of chalk!
Things have swung a bit to far when the best thing a bargaining committee can come up with in their list of demands is unlimited massages for teachers.
Lonesome, you should watch it, might learn something.
NDP fiberals, Kyle Aben the c02 scam is falling apart, I suggest finding finding a different horse to ride. Say Kyle even if there was something to this plant fertilizer thing just how much of an effect would BC’s carbon tax have globally? Kyle what is that figure?
christmas in 8 months folks,,,,,get ready
