Prince George, B.C. – Another player has made a commitment to play for the Prince George Spruce Kings.

 

Defenceman Caleb Thompson  joins Cole Todd Danny Kiraly and Braiden Epp as players who have committed to playing with the team in the 2013/14 season.

 

Born in 1994, Caleb Thompson is  a 5’ 11” 175 pound right-handed defenceman from Oklahoma City, OK. Scouts say he has speed, intelligence and is a physical player with the ability to open the play offensively. Thompson, who was invited to the team’s Spring Prospects Camp, has played the past two seasons with the Dallas Stars U18 Major Midget AAA hockey club.

 

“This is a great opportunity for me,” said Caleb Thompson. “I’m really looking forward to bringing my will to win and work effort to Prince George. It will be a brand new environment where the hockey is fast paced and played at a highly competitive level.”

“It’s a really long way away from Oklahoma,” added Thompson. “But I see this as a stepping stone to achieving my personal goal to get to the NCAA; the Spruce Kings are the team to get me there.”

 

“It’s an exciting day for the organization when we can add a player of Caleb’s ability to our lineup,” said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. “He is a tremendous two-way defenseman who sees the ice very well, can contribute offensively and is very good defensively.”

 

“Caleb also plays the body very well and will provide a physical presence for us from the blueline,” continued Hawes. “Our fans will enjoy watching this young man as he is exactly the type of defenseman that we like to have on our team.”
