Crash Victim Succumbs to Injuries

Thursday, April 25, 2013 @ 9:02 PM
Prince George, B.C. – Highway 16 east of Upper Fraser Road, has been reopened to all traffic.

Sadly, the crash which  had closed the highway for 5  hours, has now resulted in the death of the young man who lost control of his 2004 Pontiac Vibe  and rolled it on the highway.

He had been ejected from the vehicle as he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Although taken to the University Hospital of Northern B.C, he has succumbed to his injuries.

Police are investigating all factors which could have contributed to this fatal crash and at this point,   speed would appear to have played a role, and there is a possibility distracted driving may also have been a factor. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.

Weather and road conditions at the time of the crash provided for overcast, dry & clear conditions. Police do not feel that the weather was a causal factor to this incident.

Anyone, who may have witnessed the crash, or may have seen the Pontiac Vibe prior to the crash, is asked to contact the Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services office in Prince George at Tel# (250) 649-4004.
