Investigation Fails to Pinpoint Cause of Highglen School Fire

Tuesday, May 7, 2013 @ 12:38 PM
Prince George, B.C.- The cause of the fire at the Highglen Montessori School will go in the books as “undetermined.”

The Prince George Fire Rescue has just released its final word on the investigation into the blaze which destroyed the northwest corner of the school on April 22nd.

Although investigators know the fire started in the  area above the drop down ceiling in classroom 122.   An electrical Inspector with BC Safety Authority was called in to assist in the investigation, but the extensive fire damage made it impossible to   say for certain if electrical wiring found in that area had been the ignition source.

The resulting fire caused extensive smoke damage throughout the school, and the Montessori program has been moved to Gladstone School in College Heights.
