Prince George, B.C. – The dust advisory is over for Prince George. That means the “Free Fare for Clean Air” free transit ride program will come to an end at midnight tonight.
Although the dust advisory is over, high levels of dust are expected again later tonight and tomorrow morning. Plus high levels of odour may be expected for the downtown location late tomorrow morning.
The provincial air quality objective for fine particles (PM2.5) is 25 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 8 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site and 6 µg/m3 at College Heights at 9 am today.
The provincial air quality objective for coarse particles (PM10) is 50 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM10 rolling average was 31 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown, 22 µg/m3 at College Heights and 43 µg/m3 at BCR at 9 am today.
Based on the data, the high levels were mainly due to road dust in the bowl area.
