Prince George, B.C. – Damage has been set at $100,000 in a house and vehicle fire off the Hart Highway Friday afternoon.
Prince George Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Greg Wilkins says just before 1:30 pm, fifteen firefighters from three halls responded with four trucks to the structure fire in the 4000 block Chestnut Drive. When they arrived flames and smoke were coming out of the roof of the house and the carport. The lone person in the house got out safely and was standing outside as fire crews hauled out the hoses. However there is heavy damage to the house, the carport which collapsed, and a van that was in the carport.
Asst Chief Wilkins says the initial indication is that the cause was accidental. Firefighters remained at the scene for about three hours, dousing hot spots.
