Drivers Need Full Attention On Roads This Weekend
Prince George, BC – ICBC is reiterating a call from the RCMP for drivers to pay particular attention on the roads this holiday weekend…
The Insurance Corporation of BC says, on average, three people are killed and 500 are injured in 1700 crashes across the province over the Victoria Day long weekend. In the North Central region, an average of 20 people are hurt in 100 crashes. (250News file photo, shoes represent lives lost to crashes in BC)
The Insurance Corp. says high-risk driving behaviours like tailgating, failing to yield, improper passing and speeding account for almost half of all police-reported casualties in the province.
"We want to help drivers avoid high-risk driving behaviours so that our roads are safer for everyone," says ICBC’s Director of Road Safety, John Dickinson. "Fewer crashes and injuries will lower claims costs and help keep rates as low as possible."
