Prince George, BC –  Spring on the homestead was about much the same things as it is today – celebrating the end of winter and getting down to the business of spring cleaning…

As the Huble Homestead Historic Site opens its 2013 season this weekend, events today and tomorrow will highlighting pioneer spring traditions.  Operations Manager, Krystal Leason, says the garden will be planted; there will be butter-making and blacksmithing demonstrations; crafts and games for the kids; and everybody can participate in a May pole dance.

In addition to the regular BBQ fare, Leason says the homestead will host a high tea to mark Victoria Day tomorrow.  Musician Ragu Lokanathan will be on-site this afternoon, and will be playing with the acoustic group ‘So long, Jake’ tomorrow.

The historic site is open from now until the September long weekend, between 10am and 5pm daily.  As always, Leason says, admission is by donation.

The Huble Homestead is located 40-kilometres north of Prince George, just off Highway 97 on Mitchell Road.
