Scam In Quesnel

Quesnel- There is a new scam operating in Quesnel. RCMP say an out of country Debt Collection Agency is sending letters to local businesses and individuals advising them that their account is past due and has been forwarded to the collection agency.
The letter then advises the people involved to send a cheque with the amount owed or suffer bad credit.
Anyone receiving this type of request is asked to consult with the RCMP or your local bank before sending any money.

“an out of country”
“past due”
“check = cheque?
I know, we all make these mistakes? Is it a sign of our education, or our busy lives, and we can’t, or don’t have, or take the time, to proof read our news report. Or was the spell checker/grammar checker at fault?
Food for thought?
Huh, what mistake. You might ” check on dinner” but I like to receive my pay cheque. Check it out, might be in the dikshunarry.
What about the Chech Republic.
Or even the Czech Republic
I see it has all been edited since first released, and the cheque I was referring to, is the same as the cheque the author was referring to. So Czech, Chech or check is a moot point!

Well if they were told to send a check I would guess that they are also running this scam in the US or are from the US because that is how they spell cheque.
There is so-called American English and English English. Canada has a combination of the two for some very obvious reasons.
How foreigners from non-English speaking countries speak and writer English depends on where they learned it and from whom they learned it.
So, the spelling of an English word by a Lebanese national might depend on whether they went to Harvard or Oxford as an example.
“check ” is acceptable in place of “cheque” for the benefit of the spelling police on this site , so you are okay Meisner.

Whale Oil Beef Hooked is the way I first saw it on a m/c number plate in the U.K. Must admit I walked away wondering what it meant, about one block later it came to me, made me laugh out loud.
Cheques are good, especially if they don’t bounce.
