Prince George, B.C. – Young track athletes from throughout the region are gathered in Prince George this weekend to take advantage of a unique opportunity.

Two-time Canadian Olympian Gary Reed is in town to conduct a one-day training camp at Masich Place Stadium, beginning at 9 this morning. The event allows young athletes from 11 to 19 years of age to learn from an Olympian and also raises funds for the Reed Foundation, which provides financial assistance to young athletes to help with their development.

Gary Reed, now a retired middle distance runner, holds the Canadian record in the 800 metres and has a long list of both indoor and outdoor track achievements. He’s joined at the camp by Geoff Martinson of Prince George, who competed at the last World Track Championships, hurdler Tessa Gray-Burnett, who has compete4d at seven Canadian Championships, pole vault specialist Robyn Webster of Calgary and former Quesnel coach Ron Bunting, current Technical Director at BC Athletics.
