Prince George, B.C. – The investigation into an early-morning fire on Winnipeg Street has been turned over to the RCMP after fire officials determined the incident to be suspicious in nature.

At approximately 3:30 this morning, 14 firefighters from three halls were dispatched to the 700 block Winnipeg Street, where they found a travel trailer and two vehicles on fire. The flames had also extended to a nearby house and firefighters worked quickly to minimize damage to the structure.

Assistant Fire Chief John Heaslip says there were two people in the house at the time who were waiting outside when fire crews arrived. Firefighters worked for about two hours to contain damage to a second storey bedroom and then make sure there were no remaining hot spots.

The travel trailer and two vehicles were heavily damaged.   The total dollar loss is pegged at $100,000.
