Prince George, B.C. – Finning Canada’s Prince George operation will be a key player in the 2015 Canada Winter Games to be held in Prince George.

Finning will be the official provider of all heavy equipment and will provide the heat and power at event sites.

Projects that will need heavy equipment include trail expansion and upgrades to the ice oval.

The equiment will also be used to create of a half pipe.Finning General Manager, Don Gowan says his company has been able to provide heat and power to entire mine sites, so doing the same for the Canada Winter Games will not be foreign to them.

Hopefully they will have the equipment to keep the roads passable so that people can actually get to the venues. The city of PG seems incapable of doing it.

What are the financial arrangements for Finning Canada in this role? The article provides a fairly good description of the need and activities but does not clearly state if it is an absolute donation, a partial sponsorship or a full fee for service contract.

Just curious.

Maybe they are banking on the need to haul in snow like the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics? They had to haul it in by truck and then use bulldozers to spread it over the ski hills! Finning has all that equipment… soooo…
