Fort St. John, B.C.- Canfor has completed the sale of it’s 50% interest in the Peace Valley Oriented Strand Board plant in Fort St. John. Louisiana Pacific is now the sole owner of the facility.
Initially built in 2005 by Slocan and Louisiana Pacific, the mill held it’s grand opening in May of 2006. It is capable of producing 820 million square feet of 3/8” panel each year.
The Canfor’s proceeds of the sale are $77 million including working capital, and Canfor will receive further consideration over three years based on the plant’s performance.
“The Peace Valley OSB operation has been an excellent operation in partnership with LP” said Don Kayne President/CEO of Canfor. “We wish LP every success and look forward to maintaining our relationship as we continue to manage the Peace Valley OSB mill’s fibre resources”.

Whats happening at the Dawson Creek LP OSB mill? Were they shut down due to alleged toxic emissions causing birth defects or did they run out of poplar?
No. LP Dawson Creek was down due to market conditions. They’re back up running now.
