Winter Games Ready For Planning Volunteers
Prince George, BC – With the countdown clock at 621 days, the 2015 Canada Winter Games is issuing a call for planning volunteers…
When Prince George was going through the bid phase for the Games, more than 2,000 city residents said at that time they’d be willing to volunteer for the 2015 event. Organizers believe approximately 4500 volunteers will be needed in total.
This first week of June, the Host Society will be posting six planning positions that need to be filled. The planning volunteers will look after 25 projects – called ‘functional packages’ – that will help execute the 2015 Games.
The projects will form the ‘structure’ of the volunteer force, with smaller committees forming under each of the 25 packages to handle more detailed operational work and a general volunteer workforce will work in each of the areas during the two week Games.
The Games Society hopes to have all of the planning volunteers in place by July. More information will be available on the Games’ website this week.

So there are are the paid “organizers” who have been on staff. Now they actually need “planners” for about 2.5 years.
I would think that they need to be people with some high level skills who will be the work horses and not get paid even a stipend … such as a paid ski vacation in the Swiss Alps post games?
Now THAT will take dedication!!
The type of people with that skill set are usually happy to assist, driven to succeed … and can easily pay their own way to the Swiss Alps ;)
That may be true Jaws, but do we have any living in Prince George??
I know of a few, some of whom volunteered at the Vancouver olympics. I’m sure they’ll be all over this in the same way.
